This editorial began the public debate over #BlackConfederate soldiers. Unlike the short lived debate in 1863, this one got prominent Confederates involved and ended in legally authorized black soldiers.

You want more sunshine after work? Cool. Then start your workday earlier and end work earlier. Boom. More sunshine after work. No need to change clocks at all. Permanent standard time, and change YOUR schedule. Easy.
The bill is backward! Permanent DST means more darkness—darkness until 8:30am, 9am, 9:30am… And yes, it failed before because it cost children’s lives! Amend to permanent Standard Time! @AshleyMoodyFL
Louisiana Legislature 2/8/1864:
"That in this hour of trial the State of LA tenders to her Government and sister States her warmest sympathy and cordial co-operation; & she hereby declares her unfaltering determination to spare no expense of blood or treasure in defence of the CSA as a free & independent republic."
Senator Tom Cotton from Arkansas, who is a Republican made the right decision to block the sunshine protection Act bill. You might not realize that, but he is saving us all from the dreading 8:00 morning darkness, majority of Americans wake up at 6:30 or already up. Yeah, a 4:30 Sunset might not feel good but it's only temporarily when you put daylight saving time into the winter time you'll have 7:40 to 9:50 A.m. Sunrise majority of Americans are already up in darkness which is not good
When you're on standard time it's more like 6:40 to 8:50 If we fix our time zones to the ideal spot. It'll be more like 6:17 to 8:22 in the morning meaning we will have more Morning Light that we need It would be better for students better for humans for our for safety
What Trump did was wrong doxing senator Tom Cotton And that's sad. Trump is only focusing on his golf and business, not for the American people
It's time to tell our Congress people to tell them to stop pursuing the sunshine protection Act. It's time to try Standard Time
@realAlexBeard@SenTomCotton@jeanmaireAK The “Sunshine” Act means darkness past 8am for 2–3 months, as late as 8:30am. 👉 Keep it as is, or better yet, ditch DST with permanent Standard Time!
Cotton is right, Trump is wrong.
Permanent DST is a mandate to wake an hour earlier than Standard Time, to start school/work in darkness all winter. It would put sunrise past 8am for 3+ months in most states, past 9am in 18 states.
Permanent Standard Time is the only safe clock!
Should I keep going?
When we're on Standard time when sunrise is at 4:30 a.m. It gets liked naturally without chasing our clocks. We can wake up naturally without an alarm. Feel happier, less depressed. Wake up when it's bright to feel good alert because we're waking up naturally not in the dark.
When we're on DST, we're actually waking up 1 hour earlier than we should be. We have to set our alarms to wake up in the dark. It's a lot worse in the winter time when the sun rises at 8:30 a.m. And we're waking up at 6:00 or 7:00. Because we have work we feel more tired, more groggy. It will increase strokes heart attacks, suicidal rates up more diabetes, more risk of cancer.
On March 13th next year. My sunrise is on 6:31 a.m. And I wake up at 7:00 that day everyday I'm waking up in daylight. The next day I still wake up at 7:00 on March 14th we changed our clocks. Now my sunrise is at 7:30 a.m. So I'm waking up 1 hour earlier than why I'm used.
It's not good for our health to have later sunrises and later sunsets because we will be out of sync with the Sun our body clocks
