A big congratulations to the @SDAunion for this major win.
18-year-olds can vote, drive, and even put their lives on the line for their country - they're treated as adults in every part of life.
Now, they'll be paid like one too.
Historic win by @SDAunion on the abolition of junior rates for adults.
It never made sense that an 18 year old should be paid less than a 19 or 20 year old adult.
Have always backed this at @McKellInstitute.
Congratulations to all involved

The Fair Work Commission has ruled in our favour to remove junior rates for 18-20 year olds with 6 months service working in retail, fast food & pharmacy.
These junior rates will be phased out over the next four years and this means pay rises for young adults are coming!!
BREAKING: Junior rates will be abolished for 18+ year old retail, fast food and pharmacy workers!
The @SDAunion ran this massive case at the Fair Work Commission that will lift the pay of 18 year olds by 42%!
Behind every quick delivery promise from Amazon are its people – drivers, packers, organisers, and the unseen labour that keeps a multi-trillion company breathing.
Amazon makes their jobs look effortless, while hiding its own dishonest conduct.
The reality for most is anything but.
Ahead of this Black Friday, I’m taking a stand against Amazon’s exploitative practices alongside the @SDAunion and @TWUAus to back workers who deserve fairness and dignity.
Your voice has power.
Make it heard.
Make Amazon Pay.
Ahead of Black Friday tomorrow, thank you to the Australian Labor MPs and Senators supporting our #MakeAmazonPay campaign.
Amazon is the one of the most powerful & profitable corporations in the world and yet they exploit workers globally & refuse to give them a voice a work.
This Black Friday, while shoppers search for deals, Amazon workers across the supply chain continue to fight for fair treatment.
In the Senate, I joined my colleagues and the @SDAunion and @TWUAus unions to support the Make Amazon Pay campaign, highlighting the unfair practices too many workers face.
Big corporations like Amazon must pay their fair share in taxes and treat workers with the respect they deserve.

#BREAKING: Tougher Penalties for Abusive Customers are being introduced in Vic Parl today, this is a major win delivered by the @SDAunion’s campaign.
We also welcome the introduction of Workplace Protection Orders (WPOs) to ban repeat offenders. #vicpol
As you prepare to go into your retail frenzy, remember the Amazon workers who race around warehouses picking orders at unsustainable work rates set by algorithms that remove every pause in their workday. - SDA NSW Secretary @BernieSmith16#MakeAmazonPay

Amazon workers deserve a safe workplace, a secure job and fair wages & conditions.
Amazon must be held to account not just during Black Friday sales but all year round.
We’re out in Melbourne today talking to the community about our global #MakeAmazonPay campaign.
#MakeAmazonPay fair taxes. This week in Australia the “Taxation (Multinational - Global and Domestic Minimum Tax) Imposition Bill passed. A small step to make companies like Amazon pay fairer taxes.
I was proud today to help launch a new @McKellInstitute report showing shocking gaps in protections for young people at work.
The @SDAunion wants better protections for vulnerable young retail & fast food workers to keep them safe at work.

We’re in Canberra today to launch the new @McKellInstitute Safety Not Guaranteed Report.
More than half a million children work in Australia - most in retail & fast food.
But the adults working alongside them do not require a working with children check.
This needs to change.
Most people would be surprised to learn that adults can work alongside children without a working with children check.
Young workers are vulnerable and need better, nationally consistent protections to keep them safe at work.
