On International Women’s Day, we honor Mariam Vartanian (Maro), one of the founding figures of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party & a pioneering Armenian revolutionary intellectual. More than a founder in name, she helped lay the ideological foundation of the Hunchakian movement, shaping its socialist vision, political principles, and revolutionary spirit at a time when few women were given space in political life. She also dedicated her entire life to the Armenian Cause, remaining steadfast in her commitment to her people, her ideals, & the struggle for justice.

Her legacy endures not only as one of the first Armenian women to assume a leading role in organized political struggle, but as a thinker whose convictions helped define an entire movement. Today, we remember Maro as a woman of intellect, courage, and unwavering principle. #InternationalWomensDay #MariamNazarbekian #SDHP #Hunchakian #ArmenianWomen

Shushanik Kurghinian, a key figure in #Armenia's #socialist & #feminist circles, joined the Social Democrat #Hunchakian Party in 1894 & provided inspiring & thoughtful poetry, giving "a voice to the voiceless," to the SDHP affiliated press until her untimely death in 1927.
