On Christmas Eve 1926 the wards of Bellevue Hospital in New York filled with people convulsing, going blind and dying, and the poison in their blood had been put in the liquor by the United States government.

Prohibition had made drinking illegal, and America drank anyway. Bootleggers were stealing an estimated 60 million gallons a year of industrial alcohol, the kind made for paint, fuel and solvents, and redistilling it into gin. So in 1926 the Treasury set out to make the stolen alcohol lethal. It ordered manufacturers to add poisons, chief among them methyl alcohol, the kind that blinds before it kills, at up to a tenth of the volume.

Sixty people reached Bellevue that Christmas Eve. Eight were dead by Christmas Day, and more than twenty within days. That year in New York alone around 1,200 people were poisoned by alcohol and 400 died. The year after, it was 700.

On 28 December the city's chief medical examiner, Charles Norris, called in the press. He said the government knew perfectly well that poisoning alcohol was not stopping anybody drinking, and was carrying on regardless. He called it the national experiment in extermination. The head of the Anti-Saloon League replied that anyone who drank industrial alcohol was a deliberate suicide.

The Treasury went on poisoning it until Prohibition ended in 1933. The usual estimate of the dead is around 10,000.

The deaths stopped when people could buy a drink nobody had tampered with, and not because anyone in charge changed their mind.

A government that has decided what you may not consume will go a remarkably long way before admitting the rule is the problem. In 1926 it went as far as methanol.

Britain now has a speech kill switch, and as of Monday it’s armed. Large platforms must keep a crisis censorship plan they don’t have to publish, ready to fire the moment speech regulator Ofcom’s definition of a crisis is merely “likely.” That definition covers local events, regional events, and even events overseas.

The content in scope includes “foreign interference,” which can apply to information that is entirely true if it’s presented the wrong way. Ofcom admits political speech will get caught and calls the extra false positives “proportionate.” Police get a dedicated line to the platforms, and they don’t need a court order to use it. The reviews afterwards happen in private too...

You can fuck off.

What the hell is going on here?

Footage allegedly shows a Greater Manchester Police officer striking a man in the face with handcuffs.

This is now the second incident I've seen this week involving handcuffs being used to strike someone.

Another officer appears to have his full body weight on the man, who, to me, looks reasonably under control.

It's unclear when this footage was filmed or what led up to the incident.

If anyone has further details, please share them.

@CottontailsBaby really is fabulous! I would absoloutley recommend them and fully understand why they have such good reviews as we have also received excellent service. ❤️🐇

You may think he's joking, but this is what the communists did to nuns in Spain during the civil war.

Defiling corpses.

Believe them when they tell you who they are.

🚨 free information is under direct threat.

From today you might see a lot less uncomfortable (for government) political news, including protests and riots, even abroad.

Ofcom’s new “CRISIS RESPONSE” rules came into force yesterday.

Under the Online Safety Act, social media platforms must now have systems ready to rapidly respond to surges of illegal or harmful content during a crisis…. They decide when a crisis is occurring.

Ofcom explicitly says events OVERSEAS can qualify if they create a serious threat to public safety in Britain. (Think riots)

Large platforms must also have dedicated communication channels with the police, allowing rapid coordination during a crisis. (So police can flag content directly for takedown.)

And the public doesn’t even have an automatic right to see internal crisis protocols or reviews.

Who decides what we’re allowed to see when the world is in turmoil? … ultimately it’s an unelected quango 🚨

Podsumujmy.
Jakaś pani wchodzi do Trybunału Konstytucyjnego. Ogłasza, że czuje się zagrożona. Na miejscu pojawia się 1000 policjantów w kaskach.

Jednym pismem odsuwa prezesa i wiceprezesa TK. I oznajmia, że teraz to ona kieruje Trybunałem.

Prezydent RP przyjeżdża na miejsce.
Pani blokuje Prezydentowi wejście do TK szarpiąc go i urywając guzik w marynarce przy bierności ochrony Prezydenta.

Matematyka konstytucyjna.

Teraz mają zacząć wydawać wyroki w budynku otoczonym przez policję.

To już nawet nie jest kabaret.
W kabarecie przynajmniej wszyscy wiedzą, że to żart.

So, let me get this straight:

This little coke head asshole has been given $196 billion of American tax dollars, blows up diesel refineries, kidnaps people off the street, and now has been caught running black site torture dens with victims as young as 14 years old.

And, America is still supporting this guy instead of ending this war entirely?

Seriously, what are we doing anymore…

It seems @sussex_police have little interest in child rape committed by migrants. On the 16 Aug this year an young girl was allegedly raped under Hastings Pier. Witnesses were told to keep quiet. Her shoes are on the beach.

If you won't tell the truth, we'll speculate.

The true and honest subtext of this ad is that if you let your daughter burn coal she will spawn savage ill-disciplined half-breeds who soil your home, ignore you, don't care in the slightest about your traditions, but are perfectly happy to soak you for everything you're worth.

The state has grown and bloated into some kind of large parasite with a million little teeth.

Its primary goal, if you were to obey its every command, is to prevent excellence.

The modern state wants to keep its host, the citizen, just alive enough to continue feeding off of. But never more than that. Residencies, passports, bank accounts, a million different identifications to ensure that if you’ve somehow managed to have a little iota of success beyond the allotted amount that you hand it over to them immediately.

The state cannot make money so it must steal yours. That is its primary business activity.

And people think you’re crazy for suggesting such things until you read history and realize it wasn’t like this. Even very recently it wasn’t like this. There is a Thomas Carlyle quote that applies here.

The state is formless as smoke when you want to attack it. And as corporeal as steel when it wants to attack you. And that’s all thanks to the ontology of bureaucratic state. “Democracy” ha!
