🆕 AI curated live feed timeline in search results #SEO 👀 Google in search results is now showing a live timeline of events for "Cannes festival" - it's curated using AI and shows socials + web content.
Hey Google...
Whatever happened to including citations in AI Overviews? Where did the sources go? Almost all links here go to new Google searches/YouTube?
Are you seriously testing this? It's beyond unethical & unfair to site owners.
@rajanpatel@rmstein
Like I said yesterday -> Google needs to stop the BS and just explain that AIOs and AI mode are causing drops in traffic to a number of sites. Sure, I have some clients that are not being impacted by AIOs at all (yet), but many are being impacted. All of the GSC screenshots of decoupling show that. It's ridiculous they would not admit that is going on. Liz Reid did say some sites are decreasing traffic-wise, but that was late in the article and not directly attributed to AIOs. It's not a good look for them. People are not dumb, they have eyes, and can read charts and interpret the data. :)
Interested in Discover? I saw this test in Discover about a week ago. I had this for several days in one of my accounts. New icon appeared. When I tapped that icon, I was taken to a feed focused on that topic with more listings. So once again, it was like a Discover feed inside a Discover feed. That test is gone now from that account.
Google is testing a new type of featured result that mimics an AIO but instead features the exact content from a domain. I suspect this has been developed in favour of publishers, essentially being a FS with the AIO experience. h/t @rustybrick Details: https://t.co/eeGlkrObY5
OK, it's official. AI Mode comes to GSC. Google just updated its documentation about this. And like @patrickstox saw, Google is not grouping all links together as a block. Each listing will have its own position. Then links within carousels and image packs within AI mode will be grouped together (like they would in the default SERPs).
Also, follow-up questions will be like fresh queries, so position will be start over from 1. This is all great, but good luck trying to figure this out in GSC. We now have the 10-blue links, featured snippets, AIOs, and now AI Mode all grouped together in the performance reporting under Web Search. Yikes. :)
Hi @dannysullivan, Google is currently having delayed indexing issues within Google Search in France since this morning but I don't see anything on Google Search Status Dashboard https://t.co/hH0mLzfbXy, any updates please cc @searchliaison@rustybrick
