When #Altseason?
One of the most asked questions, as people are looking to make a large return, willing to bet everything on it.
Altseason hasn't come for a long time, the question is: when will this start to appear?
I think we're not too far off, and it's all about psychology.
First of all, the phrase 'altseason' has a deeper meaning in the words itself. Depends on how you'd want to look at it, but if you are starting during an altseason, you've actually missed most of the potential gains.
The beginning of altseason lies in the period of 2017, when I originally started and basically every altcoin exploded.
This didn't happen in 2021, as most of the older altcoins heavily underperformed compared to the newer ones.
This also didn't happen in 2025, as we've only seen a memecoin fiesta in 2024 and basically an everlasting bear market on #Altcoins since the end of 2021, through which the sentiment has hit rock bottom and through which the interest in altcoins and crypto have decreased substantially.
This cycle has proven to be completely different than previous cycles and it has proven to be super complex.
Just like the previous cycle has proven to be different than the cycle before and just like the next cycle will be more complex to this cycle.
Exactly four years ago, Bitcoin printed the first real high at $65,000 and 95% of the gains in altcoins have already been established during that period.
However, if we measure the returns, they are from the bottom and that's what we classify as the bottom, right now.
I've discussed this topic in detail on YouTube with additional charts added, make sure to watch the video here & subscribe to the channel:

The reason for that is that:
- Altcoins are heavily underperforming vs. Bitcoin due to the indicator provided --> Bitcoin season --> still no risk-on appetite.
- Central banks are changing their behavior towards macroeconomic policies as the business cycle is hitting lows and potential recession fears are looming.
- Fundamentally, a lot of progress is happening within the crypto ecosystem, as DeFi is getting adopted and more and more liquidity is driving towards this asset class.
- Gold is close to a peak in the upcoming weeks as uncertainties might fade away.
- Chinese Renminbi starts to outperform the Dollar --> Ethereum to outperform Bitcoin as there's a strong correlation between the two.
This basically comes down to the erasing factor of the 4-year cycle.
We're currently seeing two different groups of people:
- The group that believes that we're in the start of a bear market and still clinging towards the 4-year cycle.
- The second group believe that we're at the start of a bull cycle as we're about to break upwards.
Remember; Bitcoin is above $100K in a regime with rates above 4%, while the previous time that we've reached an all-time high, rates were <1%. There's so much more upside to come.
Rates go down = Bitcoin goes up.
Rates go down & Dollar goes down = Everything else goes up a higher magnitude than Bitcoin.
As we know, this cycle is completely different than the previous cycles, as we've seen a Bitcoin price reaching a new ATH pre-halving.
We've also seen a case that the first quarter of a 'bullish' year 2025 has been disastrous for altcoins.
That, essentially, is telling everyone that the cycles are gone and that we're more inclined to see macroeconomic cycles taking place, through which crypto and the entire Web 3 ecosystem remains to be the best asset class to invest in for the upcoming macroeconomic positive business cycle to come.
Essentially, the difficulty of this cycle has significantly increased and it's almost foolish to be building your entire thesis on things that happened.
Sure, there will be similarities, but most likely, the tables have turned and other variables need to be taken into account if you're looking to get yourself a significant return in those markets.
I'm quite sure that, given we're currently having 2 big groups debating each other, that a large group of people will be wrong and therefore, won't be classified a big winner in the cycle to come.
That's why I've decided to be erasing the 'timing' factor of my portfolio as that's just irrelevant.
It's more fundamental and price based.
Adding on top of that, if there are so many factors going into negative sentiment, all altseason indicators indicate that there's no altseason, then, for me, that's actually a sign to be allocating your funds into altcoins as the best moment to be investing your assets into any asset is around the bottom.
That's also the moment that you feel least secure about those investments, but it correlates strongly with the inverse thesis that you need to make for yourself if you're looking to invest in anything.
Will you be following your neighbour in 1 year time after he's made most of his gains and you're just late joining the party?
That's simply not how it works. The only difference this time is that people have made an assumption that this cycle must be playing out the same as the previous cycles and are getting hammered in the current market circumstances, losing their patience.
That's the beauty of this game. If you stay in the game and if you are patient enough, you'll be beating 95% of the participants in the markets.
To answer the question: When altseason?
When altseason is for me the period when I can scoop up altcoins that are extremely undervalued, but have strong teams that are resilient and continue to build. There are plenty out there and these are extremely, extremely undervalued.
