@PattyMurray Patty, as a teen (1980's) Broward Cnty Sheriffs Deputy Sgt. Robert Rios "Star" of C.O.P.S. TV Series- Beat me from behind As did other Deputies. Their Laughter & 'We'll Teach him not to Hang out w Strangers' Talk Haunts me to this day. #ExposeAbusers https://t.co/jfO2F3cPxO
Dr. Ford welcomed an investigation, answered questions, took a polygraph, & remembered details—like seeing Mark Judge at the supermarket a few weeks later. She did her job as a US citizen.
Judge Kavanaugh doesn't want an investigation—he doesn't want the facts to come out.
This is another sobering indicator that Congress needs to step up and take action to protect the privacy and security of social media users. As I’ve said before – the era of the Wild West in social media is over.
According to Sen Coons, other Republicans not on the Senate Judiciary Committee were also consulted during that break. So you can expect that others similarly would not vote yes on Kavanaugh now without a one week pause for a FBI investigation into Dr. Ford's allegations.
To Dems who can’t believe what they’re watching, remember: a majority of the Senate now represents 18% of the population & answers to a subset of voters that is considerably whiter, redder and more rural than the nation as a whole. That’s the reality of our times.
This doesn’t look like congressional oversight of the Justice Department. This looks like potentially undermining national security in order to protect the president from the rule of law.

50 million more reasons why we need federal privacy and data security regulations. This breach must be fully investigated and @Facebook must fully cooperate. No delays. No evasiveness. Full transparency.

“You’ve got to deny, deny, deny and push back on these women. If you admit to anything and any culpability, then you’re dead...You’ve got to be aggressive. You’ve got to push back hard. You’ve got to deny that’s said about you. Never admit.”

Kavanaugh heard.
Dean of Yale Law School - Kavanaugh’s alma mater - is calling for an investigation prior to confirmation vote: “Proceeding with the confirmation process without further investigation is not in the best interest of the Court or our profession” -Yale Law School Dean Heather Gerken
This clip struck me as especially telling:
Durbin: Will you support an FBI investigation, right now?
Kavanaugh: I will do whatever the committee wants to do.
Durbin: Personally, do you think that's the best thing for us to do?
Kavanaugh: **silence**
Yesterday's hearing doesn’t have to be the final word. There is no rush.
We can have the FBI investigate.
We can continue investigations.
We can bring in additional witnesses.
Allowing this to be jammed through will damage the integrity of the Supreme Court & the Senate.
The refusal to call the one person Dr. Ford says witnessed the alleged assault or submit him to a thorough interview is impossible to justify or explain.
It is a willful act of disregard that will stain the process and Judge Kavanaugh for all time.
