WE DID IT!! Over 500 signatures from health workers all over the Bay Area and across the U.S., supporting the work of @BlackOrgProject bringing an end to the Oakland Schools Police Department. We’ll send it to the school board & superintendent tonight.
“We talk about reparations- America hates to have that conversation because their afraid to look at their ugly history. They don’t just kill us. What they do to us is annihilate us.” -Gwendolyn Woods. “My son Mario got no justice. Enough is enough.”
Health workers in the Bay Area shut down traffic on the Bay Bridge today in defense of Black lives. Policing & systemic racism are inextricably intertwined public health issues & we must take action against them. #BlackHealthMatters@Mvmnt4BlkLives

“[Welcome to the Ramaytush Ohlone homeland...as co-conspirators of our black relatives who are being oppressed. But they won’t allow themselves to be diminished just like my ancestors didn’t allow themselves to be diminished.]” -Greg Castro
This Saturday 6/20 please join us, @DoNoHarmUCSF @APTPaction@publichealthjc & health workers for a caravan to BRIDGE THE BAY 4 BLACK LIVES 🏁📍🌁🚗💨💯✊🏾✊🏽
#RT & help us elevate demands for justice in the wake of twin pandemics: COVID & state sanctioned violence!
Two bay area youth were murdered by police this week. Both 22 years old.
Erik Salgado from Oakland, shot 40x by CHP next to his pregnant wife. Their baby was killed.
Sean Monterossa from SF, shot 5x by VPD while on his knees.
Rest in power. You deserved the world.
The time is not for reformist measures to legitimize policing. Many of these kinds of reforms had already been adopted by police - & Black people are still getting killed. It's time to abolish policing & the rest of the prison industrial complex.

an underdeveloped public transportation system, education inequity- fueled by racism in our city and racist policies by local, state, and federal governments.
These high numbers are caused by over 80yrs of redlining, environmental racism, food deserts, healthcare inequity, gentrification, poor housing/public housing policy, a violent and punitive criminal justice system, aggressive and militarized policing,
