⚠️The Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza had been organizing public screenings of World Cup matches for displaced families across the Strip. About an hour before today’s Egypt-Argentina match, Israel killed the committee’s public relations director in a strike on his vehicle. Two others, including a child, were also killed.
Incredible Egyptian goal is disallowed because of a foul far away, then same situation a few minutes later and goal for Argentina not disallowed! No VAR, nothing? FIFA again looks like a corrupt joke, playing favorites for stars.
Pep Guardiola’s era is coming to an end. How did he perform over 9 seasons, judged on squad cost? (excl. 2025/26 no data yet)
The Pep era in one chart.
Man City: the highest squad cost in the league and they sit above the line, meaning they overdelivered even on that spend. Most expensive squad AND best value.
Man Utd: spent just as big. Landed 25 performance points lower. 👀
Over 9 seasons and a trophy haul nobody’s matched, Pep sits comfortably above the average line.

Measurements
Squad Cost = 0.75×Wages + Amortisation + Agent Fees + Player Impairment − Net Player Sales (UEFA’s squad cost basis)
Performance Score (0-100): blends league points, final position AND cup/Europe progression into one number - league weighted highest.
Plot one vs the other = who actually gets value for money. 📊

Israel has committed every war crime there is to commit.
It has slaughtered, raped and tortured Palestinians.
But now because they subjected Westerners to a TINY fraction of that on camera:
Israeli politicians and cheerleaders are panicking.
Nauseating!
They killed 3 children in Gaza today, in the midst of a supposed ceasefire, but they’re Palestinians so their lives don’t count.
I am trying to imagine the media coverage of Hamas killed 3 Israeli children today.
“In wrenching interviews, Palestinians have recounted to me a pattern of widespread Israeli sexual violence against men, women and even children,” our columnist Nicholas Kristof writes.

"They had dug out the grave and reached the body."
Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank dug up the grave of 80-year-old Palestinian Hussein Asasa just hours after his burial, forcing his family to exhume and rebury his body in another cemetery near Jenin.
Mohammed Asasa said settlers arrived at the village cemetery under the protection of Israeli forces and ordered the family to remove the body, claiming the land belonged to the nearby illegal Sa-Nur settlement recently re-established by Israel.
When relatives reached the cemetery, they found settlers had already broken open the grave and reached the body wrapped in its white burial shroud while Israeli soldiers stood by.
The family said settlers threatened to bring bulldozers, remove the body themselves and throw it out if the grave was not emptied.
Video shows Palestinians carrying Hussein Asasa’s body away from the village grave as settlers and Israeli troops remain at the scene.
The incident comes amid a rapid expansion of illegal Israeli settlements across the occupied West Bank, where Palestinians face escalating settler violence, land seizures, home demolitions and military-backed displacement as Israel accelerates control over Palestinian territory.
The UN Human Rights Office condemned the incident as part of the ongoing dehumanisation of Palestinians under Israeli occupation, saying Palestinians are being stripped of dignity “dead or alive.”
"There are literally hundreds or thousands of people who have just vanished... and many of them have been last seen in the presence of Israeli troops."
@AlexCrawfordSky tells me about the newsroom-wide effort to trace the last known movements of a mother and daughter in Gaza who were last seen alive in Israeli military custody.
