this is from a vampire story in an South Wales newspaper from 1896

the word that's tripping me up is "rish"

later in the story the narrator has a dream

the woman in the painting comes out of the painting and into his studio and the background, of the image, perhaps...

there may be one typo in this (perhaps 1st) publication

the word is "rish" - which i have seen in less careful transcriptions as "rich" - which makes more sense - but i am did an *EXACTING TRANSCRIPTION*
