Chief of Department Nicholson @sfbos president @AaronPeskin and Fire Commissioner Nakajo provide opening remarks acknowledging the over 40 thousand trained @SFFDNERT members and added safety through resiliency this program offers to #SF
We had a fantastic training day with @SFFDNERT@AaronPeskin#SFFD#SFFDEMS@SF_emergency at the annual #NERT disaster training drill.
Hundreds of our over 40,000 trained community members practiced disaster response and mitigation skills previously learned under the supervision of #SFFD training staff.
A few NERTs were recognized for accomplishments benefitting the advancement of a safer community. #NERTS are volunteers; if you know or see one, consider thanking them. If you are interested in becoming a NERT, more information can be found here: https://t.co/kZMp4S496Y
We train with and as a community with one common goal: your safety.
As our SoCal neighbors prep for #TropicalStormHilary let's take stock of our own preparedness. Do you have 3 days of water & food for everyone (pets, too!)? How current is your emergency plan? Do you have emergency supplies organized & ready? Learn more at https://t.co/KEPzIf1Zlz
Do NERTs let the threat of bad weather keep us down? Certainly not! Damage Assessment forms tabletop exercise at Bravado Lounge and a walk to SFFD Station 8 is the perfect Saturday activity on a maybe rainy day.
Today is NERT Day at DOT, NERTs have advanced training every 3rd Saturday. While NERTs are in classrooms busy with #StopTheBleed and #MapYourNeighborhood, SFFD’s 133rd Recruit Class is practicing ladder training - with music. It’s a busy and gorgeous day at the Dept of Training!
We appreciate our student in NERT class who, on the first day of class, was evacuated from this building during the nighttime incident. They called to tell us that their NERT training helped them to cope with the emergency. 👏👏👏 We're glad you are safe! https://t.co/UAURy5DtJd
