Teach young children and school-age children to tell a grown up if they see matches or lighters. Children need to understand that fire is difficult to control, it is fast and can hurt as soon as it touches you. #KidsFireSafety#FirePrevention#BeSafe

Meet search dog Reva
Reva, originally named Ollie, was raised in an apartment and her former owners did not anticipate her energy level or her size, so they decided to surrender her to Outreach Pawsibilities in Herriman, Utah.
After recruiter Trevor Lawrence met Reva, he knew she was a candidate for the @searchdogfdn program when she nearly knocked him over trying to get the toy!
After passing her evaluation easily, Reva jumped on a private plane, thanks to SDF's partnership with Angel Flight West for Reva’s flight into Santa Paula. When she arrived at SDF’s campus for search dog training, her over-the-top toy drive initially caused her to be so overstimulated that she could not process her training and learn the skills she will need as a search dog, but SDF trainers were able to balance that drive and help her “learn how to learn.”
We are honored to have renamed her in memory of one of @searchdogfdn own—former SDF staff member Reva Ferguson, who lost her courageous 13-year battle with breast cancer on December 5, 2020, just one year ago.
Now, Search Dog Reva will carry on Reva’s legacy, sharing similar boundless energy, a real love of life every single day, and a small mischievous streak, as she completes her training and goes on to help save lives as an #SFFD Search and Rescue K9 with A/BC G. Miller.
From Dawn to Dusk we train, as it betters us for you. This veteran firefighter sits on the outside of the tiller cab as a junior firefighter enhancing their skills as a tiller operator. This person moves the back end of the truck as we navigate the many challenges on our streets and affords us the ability for optimal apparatus placement on the scene of an emergency.
We train with one goal, your safety. @SFFFLocal798
On Juneteenth, we commemorate the anniversary of the delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest hours, there is cause to hope — and a reason to keep building a country that lives up to its highest ideals.
"Where you see wrong or inequality or injustice, speak out, because this is your country. This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on."
- Thurgood Marshall
A day of celebration and recognition.
Happy #Juneteenth#FreedomDay2023@sfgov
