The Algerian Football Federation has filed a complaint with FIFA regarding the refereeing decisions in their 3-0 opening World Cup defeat by Argentina.

Its concerns, according to a source with knowledge of the matter, centre around Lionel Messi’s tackle in the 30th minute, in which he caught Algeria captain Aissa Mandi on his right calf and Achilles tendon with his studs up.

Referees are human and star power influences calls more than it should. Messi has gotten softer treatment in some situations over the years, just like other global icons. It's a real flaw in the game.

But none of that changes the rule: studs planted on the ankle is dangerous play. Red card, every time. The name on the shirt doesn't grant immunity. Consistent enforcement beats reputation-based leniency.

There is a new scam by @IndiGo6E these days.

When you web check-in, they don’t show any free seat options to select.

If you skip seat selection and choose auto-assigned seating, they say you'll receive your boarding pass by email around 4 hours before departure. In my case, it never arrived.

When I called customer care to ask why the boarding pass wasn't sent, they told me that auto-assigned seating can only be done 12 hours before departure. If it isn't assigned by then, the airport has to allocate the seat. They also said they have no way to contact the airport.

So you are forced to reach the airport at least 1 hour early for physical check-in. If you arrive close to the check-in cutoff, they may refuse to issue a boarding pass and say you missed the check-in deadline.

Technically, there are no FREE seats for web check-in.

Everybody is out here scamming common people because apparently there’s nowhere for us to go and complain. Well done!

You may agree with Prasad on the white line issue, you may not. That's your choice.

But this whole thing made me think about something bigger.
Mumbai was built by the Koli and Agri-Koli samaj. Fishing is not just their job, it's who they are. And yet in some areas of this very city, Marathi people are regularly denied flats just for being Marathi.

People are rejected just for eating non-veg. In their own home.
This is not new. Even Pankaja Munde, a sitting cabinet minister, came out and said she was denied a flat in Mumbai for being Marathi.

Prasad has talked about this before too. But he only really acted when it happened in his own society.

A white line in one society got everyone talking. But Marathi people being denied homes in some areas of their own city, quietly, systematically, for years, somehow never did.

The white line is just one small part of a much larger problem that has been ignored for far too long.

Prasad's choice of words could have been better. But the issue he raised is very real.

Marico Rubio says soon US would stop allowing India to import Russian oil. Already we are going through big crisis. Bloomberg reports RBI sold $12 billion worth of gold to buy forex.

The decision to pledge gold in 1991 is still being criticised. But it was only pledged and came back to country.

Even a poor household in India only pledges gold. Rarely they sell it.

Why we are in a situation to sell our gold reserves?

Despite importing from Russia and not paying in dollars, our situation is bad. If we are going to listen to the dictum of US and stop buying Russian oil, where are the dollars to buy from America and it's allies.

For now, there seems to be no resolution in sight for US Iran conflict. Even Prime Minister has warned how severe impact it would create for our economy.

Again 2013 fragile five status of India is repeatedly criticised. Even economists close to government like Surjit Bhalla now says we are now the most fragile economy in the world. And he said, may be Turkey can be added to it to call as fragile two.

PV Narasimha Rao acknowledged the crisis in 1991 and worked towards bring India out of it. What are we going to do now?
