@Venu_7_ $SE is already looking like an executable setup already, with respect of 50 day MA and last earnings AVWAP demonstrated. Also great fundamental setup and riding strong recent themes around retail and Asia.
@RealSimpleAriel If it was originally and truly intended to be a long term investment and you have truly done the research and you truly believe you paid a fair price and the company has a good cash flow yield then it can make sense. But I think your point is that most people do this for a trade.
@ohiain I wouldn’t waste any energy in replying to someone who doesn’t bother to complete a proper sentence or to elaborate further. Both daily and weekly are clearly weak - it’s factually conclusive. This guy is still anchored to a narrative which has peaked for now.
@ChartingWithKR Agree. These comments usually come from people who only trade one (small) timeframe with a pure mechanical strategy. Once higher TF structure and fundamentals are considered, time of day becomes a much smaller factor and often irrelevant.
@Remzztrades Good pivot. If a long idea keeps failing to break and showing weakness, it can actually become a good short idea after a few days. It’s showing some signs of distribution. I think this one first needs to properly lose the 50MA though
@SRxTrades My approach is to keep swing rules the same but in parallel day trade the QQQ, especially looking for sell offs to hedge my swings. If the market seems choppy to swing traders it normally means there are trend days or moves in QQQ so I still benefit from riding that instead.
@SRxTrades For me I like to focus on intra day shorts of QQQ to hedge the swing longs, especially when there’s failed breakout or strong intraday day momentum. Can also often be a predictable sell off into the close. Has worked well the last week or so.
@Team2Trading I also took this trade. Even more confluences: (1) after the lower high there was a trendline break (the lower parallel of the rising TL above price); (2) after PDL rejection price lost VWAP then there was a filed attempt to reclaim it; (3) price lost 50% midline of opening range
@SRxTrades Good take and very useful. I would add that there can also be an in between compromise: options spreads, especially diagonals and calendar ratio spreads, which can mitigate a lot of the time decay and IV and provide good leverage without capping upside too much.
@Remzztrades What’s the narrative/catalyst that’s going to drive this higher? Is it in a strong group? I think not, this just looks overextended and out of energy to me. There are better momentum setups out there
@ohiain Thanks to your original tweet I also started a swing position last week (having traded this stock several times before, in fact it was my first ever options trade: big gain thru earnings = beginners luck). Massive base breakout, congrats
@artisanwill12 I was in a nice looking $ORCL short yesterday which was going well until the market suddenly went crazy due to trump tweet. Cannot plan for these things but can react: I then waited for market to stabilize and QQQ long into the close
@SRxTrades As David Paul once said: “the good trade is the hard trade”… I think this is very true. If it was too easy/obvious then it wouldn’t be the best risk to reward.
@Team2Trading Nice trade. A bit of a risky one as between the PMH and PML and it had the VWAP just below. I took a similar timing of trade on ORCL which had a big gap down day
@SRxTrades It’s a sign of rotation happening if the previous winners are not holding moves but market still holds the 50 EMA, for example, I got some traction today on $IMAX $HRL both “non AI” names. Just opened position on $LION into the close, looks constructive.
