Was so sad the day I realized my South African citizenship was taken from me for obtaining a Canadian one. Went to the offices in South Africa to reinstate them after last year’s court ruling, but they did not know how to proceed. Glad to see there will be an online portal.
Today’s ruling by the ConCourt provides an opportunity to restore the dignity of South Africans who unconstitutionally lost their citizenship after 6 October 1995. Home Affairs is already working to build an online portal for those affected to confirm citizenship reinstatement 🇿🇦
Why am I excited when I realize it’s Wednesday? #XMen97 is why. But I did not expect for episode 5 to sneak up and obliterate the sanctity of some of my childhood memories this way 🫣. This episode made it clear that they realize we’re now grown up and aren’t pulling any punches. Don’t think you’re safe cos you’re an adult watching a cartoon. If you grew up with the X-men cartoon this show is coming for pieces of your heart, and will make you come crawling back each week.
Brilliant details and touches to the writing this episode. Way to go Marvel. I should not have watched this before bed 😨.
Is it next Wednesday yet?
Louis Gossett Jr, the 1st Black man to win an Oscar for supporting actor. Sad to hear the news of his passing.
You were a true role model to work beside - a gentleman and class act where others would resort to lesser. I fondly remember your humility and jovial nature amidst any of the challenges on set. And how you felt like a father figure to many of those around you. You always shared a warm sparkle, and embodied the essence of how to conduct oneself as a man.
Rest in peace, Sir🕊️

Just over a year ago, I shared dinner with Mr. Weathers in Texas and was enamored by his jovial and easy nature. I especially remember the ambience during his storytelling. Not only did the room stop to listen to him, but he just as easily stopped to listen to others fumble into a soliloquy.
I remember thinking by the end of the night that, “I’d like to grow into a man like him one day”. Odd, that I always thought I would see him again. A sudden change of plans altered that happening just a couple months ago. But last I saw him, both his body and spirit shone with such vibrance it is jolting to think how suddenly life can move on…
I did not know Mr.Weathers well, but the short time with him left a lasting impression of a human being. What a spirit. Humble, powerful and just easefully…happy. He seemed to have it all figured out.
Rest in peace Carl 🕊️
My condolences to your family and loved ones 🤍

Waiting to board my final transfer flight in Amsterdam now, and I can’t tell you how great it is to overhear all these South African accents surrounding me again.
So what’s with crossing customs?
Whenever I cross border security into the US/back to Canada, the agents always go out of their way to talk to you with a dismissive detest. Especially when they’re done asking questions, and flippantly flick you off like an encircling fly.
“Go”
“Leave”
“Move”
are their absurdly common last words.
I say thank you, laughing at them.
In my head of course. You’re letting us through, I’m a citizen. Just, I dunno, maybe coming back to where I live. It’s okay. You can talk to us like people.
These photos though 🫰🏽
I’ve done 1 convention since The 100, but would love to get invited to these when they go down and get to connect with more of you out there ☀️☀️
(July 06, 2023) Toronto, Canada - A stabbing on a moving subway train caused chaos as riders ran from the violent altercation.
Man in his 30s now in stable condition, attacker still at large, police say
The stabbing left a man in his 30s with serious injuries. Initially, his injuries were considered life-threatening. Later on Thursday, his condition was upgraded to stable.
His attacker, a man, fled the station and is still at large.
Toronto police say they were called to Eglinton station at about 12:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from several stab wounds. Toronto paramedics rushed him to a nearby trauma centre.
Duty Insp. Michelle Olszevski, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service, told reporters outside the station that police from 53 Division and officers from forensic identification services, with the help of TTC security, are investigating and reviewing security camera footage.
She said police are aware that there is a video circulating on social media of the incident.
In that video, two men can be seen kicking and punching each other. At one point, blood can be seen seeping through the shirt of one man. That man then runs toward one end of the train, screaming, with the other man chasing him.
Subway riders, meanwhile, run to the other end of the train. Blood is visible on the subway car's floor.
One rider says: "He's stabbing him up" and "He's killing him." Another says: "I can't get off the train."
The man who stabbed the other is seen at the end of the video walking on the subway platform after the train pulls into the station.
Olszevski said many witnesses have spoken to police and anyone else who has video or who witnessed the stabbing is urged to come forward.
She said police are concerned about safety on the TTC.
"I can tell you that the Toronto Police Service is committed to safety of all citizens across the service, including those riding the TTC. And although TTC security is primarily in charge of security on the transit system, we do support them and we respond to all calls for service and emergencies on the transit system," she said.
Police patrol the transit system on their regular shifts and take the safety of riders very seriously, she added.
