Attention, teachers: I'm happy to share that we just passed a bill to return to school districts local control of the Annual Professional Performance Review, or APPR. Today on the Assembly floor, I got right to the point:
Happy New Year? Ehh… Each 1st of the month that goes by screams that we are STILL WORKING WITHOUT A CONTRACT! July 1st was way too long ago! This should’ve been settled months and months ago! @NYSUTWNY
What is it like working without a contract?: “I’ve been employed at Sweet Home for 22 years - never before in my career have, I felt so devalued, underappreciated, disconnected, and abandoned,” responded Mary Beth Bruce, @SweetHomeCSD High School teacher. @nysut
25 YEARS LATER: Sweet Home CSD retirees Roey Tacca & Sam LaDuca are picketing tonight for teacher contracts, 25 years after they did it for themselves.
