@LouisMassett 1) Liberal heresy results in a letter and disapproving comments, but is allowed to continue unabated.
2) Traditionalist act of disobedience results in formal excommunications, charges of schism and endless repudiation.
I thought the SSPX and supporters were such an itty bitty group compared to the rest of the Church? Why so much fuss? Meanwhile, a huge number of "Catholics", including priests, bishops and Cardinals, seem to be flaunting their support of homosexuality, including "unions". I know, I know, they risk receiving a letter from Rome telling them they're naughty.
@FreeIrishman7 I was taught evolution in Catholic school as a child. Much to my shame I believed it, until I really thought about it. Now every contemplation of nature screams the absurdity of it to me.
@BeSaintly The Pope's authority does not extend to requiring us to accept new teachings. His job description is to safeguard and pass on what the apostles taught.
@BreeSolstad I see why you're confused. It was merely a "celebration" of a gay couple's anniversary and a "blessing" of two men, who just happened to also be a gay couple. Nothing to see here. Rome has spoken on this topic.
@FrMatthewLC They are against anything that contradicts tradition. No Pope can require us to believe new teachings. They do not believe all religions are paths to God or that all religions were part of God's positive will.
Some of my experiences: 1) In a pretty mainstream parish in New Jersey a priest told a group from Blue Army that the Church no longer believes in the Real Presence. He asked "How could that be possible? What happens when it's consumed?" 2) A catechism class leader in another large mainstream parish told me that he never heard of transubstantiation and, when given an explanation, said that it was not meant to be literal. 3) When the Trenton Diocese changed the rules so the flock remained standing after the Agnus Dei a priest (a third parish) said "people used to kneel as though they are not worthy" I said "Do you mean when they are saying Lord, I am not worthy?" (full disclosure, they now kneel again)I could go on and on.
@ParousieJeanne In 1904 she said the enemies of the faith โare working to structure, under the influence of the enemy of souls, a new Mass that contains concepts hateful to my designs.โ
Can you imagine such a thing?
@Mia1430797 Huh, I thought it was only in cartoons that kids curl their hands, put them up to their eyes and say Waaaah! This very real video tells me it really happens.
