@SPQuinn22 @rawsalerts They can see them from space sure, but its in snapshots. There is a very low 'time-over-target' with satellites. They also can't listen well.

They are not searching for the silos, they are observing movement, listening for signals, tracking vehicles, etc.

The type of EMP that you hear people talking about as an attack on the US, yes. It's what is known as a high altitude nuclear EMP (HEMP)

There are ways of producing less energetic EMPs, but those would not result in catastrophic damage over a large area.
