BREAKING: @NYSenate Historically Passes Bills to Universal Access to Medication Assisted Treatment for those enrolled in Medicaid and those incarcerated. Now the @NYSA_Majority must show leadership to #EndOverdoseNY Read our statement here:
Um, opioids don't fuel a growing prison population.... that would be our drug policy that does that. We have a choice about whether to spend $ on locking up people or helping them. We choose incarceration...
STATEMENT: VOCAL-NY slams @NYGovCuomo’s opioid plan in the #StateoftheStateNY: As overdose deaths continue to rise, the set of policies the Governor laid out today is not progressive or progress!
Today is #OverdoseAwarenessDay.
Opioid & drug abuse isn’t an issue that impacts any one kind of family. It impacts us all.
It’s one reason why we pursue:
- Medicare for All
- Legalizing Marijuana
- Criminal Justice Reform
- Reducing influence of Big Pharma lobbyists in policy
“If the politicians gave a fuck people would still be alive. Overdose is preventable! They make decisions for our lives but they don’t come to talk to us” says @CollinsHiawatha from @HarmReduction. #EndOverdoseNY#IOAD18
Hey #Harmreduction people and journalists, a new meta-analysis was released the other day that *some* might say shows that Supervised Consumption Spaces have no effect: https://t.co/XXWlqhdCV1 I have some notes for you (a thread)
Proud to announce $500,000 in funds to fight the opioid epidemic in the South Bronx @ the NYC Overdose Revival event today. Tackling this crisis needs a multifaceted approach: education on the issue, well-funded programs and resources & teaching life-saving techniques.
Today at the NYC Overdose Revival event at St. Mary’s Park, I was proud to talk about my bill to create safer consumption services & that when I go into the room for health committee meetings, the folks there today & every person who is part of this fight, are there with me.
