Sikhs strongly condemn secret visit of head of RSS to Gurdwara in London
No apology or explanation from those responsible for running the Gurdwara, including the Trustees can undo the damage caused by welcoming the head of the RSS to a small, private gathering without the presence of the Sangat. Such a decision represents a serious breach of trust and a profound failure of stewardship.
Gurdwaras are meant to serve the Sikh community openly and transparently; using that sacred space for a secretive and politically charged meeting is unacceptable and has deeply offended many Sikhs. The visit confirms those that have a friendly relationship with the Indian High Commission have undue influence on those running the Khalsa Jatha British Isles Gurdwara.

RSS NOT WELCOME IN THE UK
Join the mobilisation against the RSS. The leader of the Hindu supremacist organisation, the largest far-right paramilitary in the world, has been in London this week.

Outside the Indian High Commission, protesters in London spoke out against India’s alleged repression and raised concerns over Sikh rights.

@khalsajatha The RSS is an unofficial paramilitary branch of India's nationalist government regime. India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a lifelong RSS affiliate, who has led a murderous anti-Sikh agenda, which is even targeting diaspora Sikh activists.

Sikh groups are protesting the UK tour of Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a notorious Hindu extremist group linked to countless anti-Sikh activities.
A daily protest has been taking place outside London's Indian embassy since 2nd September...

Whilst some Sikh groups (@khalsajatha pictured) welcomed Bhagwat, across the globe other Sikh groups believe his tour reflects increasing Hindutva (Hindu extremist) transnational repression.

Following Sikhs For Justice (SFJ)’s “Indian Tiranga Kills Sikhs, Muslims & Christians” campaign and challenge to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat in New York, Reverend Adrienne Thorne, Senior Minister of The Riverside Church, called her participation in the event “a mistake.”
Rev. Thorne said she was not told that it was an RSS event or that Mohan Bhagwat would be there.
She made her position clear:
“I do not support the RSS.”
“I do not support Hindu nationalism.”
“I was misled.”

There is something truly special about Guru Nanak Gurdwara Smethwick.
It isn’t simply the beauty of the Darbar Sahib or the building itself. It is what happens quietly within these walls, every single day.
These photographs capture something that cannot easily be put into words
