#ZCUpdates : : Zimbabwean music legend Alick Macheso has announced that he and his band will no longer perform at this year’s Silala Festival in South Africa, citing ongoing security concerns linked to protests and unrest affecting foreign nationals. In an official statement shared on his social media platforms, Macheso said the decision was made with the safety of his team, supporters, and festival attendees as the top priority. He explained that the current security situation in South Africa had created circumstances beyond their control, making it impossible for them to participate in the event despite having been fully prepared. The musician stressed that all contractual obligations and logistical arrangements for the performance had already been completed before the decision was taken. However, he said the safety and well-being of everyone involved outweighed all other considerations. Macheso also expressed his appreciation to the festival organisers for their efforts and thanked fans who had been looking forward to the performance. He further called on communities to promote peace, unity, tolerance, and mutual respect during the challenging period, emphasizing that music has the power to transcend borders and bring people together.
