@bakedbananners1 It’s also very very big factor that Kris is a teenager. A time when most otherwise androgynous kids are biologically pushed into either direction. Frisk is a child, so “gender” is easy to brush off as unimportant. Kris being older makes the GNC aspect more difficult to accept.
@martian_lore You think very little of the “average” chud. Most of them are just kinda disaffected, antisocial, and a bit ugly. They could absolutely do great things, in the right circumstances. The bottom 30% is where you are pretty much on the money.
@UkeCreature Frankly it’s pretty dumb but it’s got a seed of truth to it. Tolerance performed for utopia instead of for the sake of it as an innate value. Asking, “Why isn’t heaven here if we did everything we were told to reach it?”
@UkeCreature There’s a very reasonable aspect of people growing up and seeing the heralded world of the future being a utopia of different accepted lifestyles and cultures, and now that it’s “here”, it’s mostly the same. Not worse or better. So they push back on what they see as “unnecessary”
@InVitroFuture Notice how most of the exploitation of the bottom was resource-based. Poaching, hunting, meat, furs, ivory. Cats and dogs were comfort creatures with minimal, specialized, even trained roles. Unless humans have some rare component, dogs are still a more apt comparison to humans.
@byzantinecopt Only problem I could see is this easily would’ve become INSANELY kitsche. Like “marble statue in a McMansion” like of kitsche. Faux-historic.
@NavyStrang Well yes, being born into a religion versus converting later in life almost always results in more scrupulous and intense followers in the latter case.
I’d be more curious about the adult reconverts here. Which do they fall under?
Towards other ends as well! To creative hobbies, to self improvement, to meeting new people. And if you don’t know what you want, that’s a perfect time to try something weird or new.
Yearners shouldn’t just wait for a girl to fall into their life. Live the damn thing first!
I’ve always yearned, even before the Malfoid phenomenon. I also have had good relationships that ended on my own terms.
I can say that so much of that soul, that spirit of yearning, is internal. You yearn because you want something more. That can be directed (1/2)
@WideDogArt I’m pretty shocked no one mentioned how COVID could’ve contributed to this. Normally already shut-in dudes suddenly locked into that environment forcibly for almost a year and a half during their prime “youth romance” years, and are now hitting their early 20s? It’s elementary.
@onlythesis_ Funny but also tragic that SOME dudes who loved gatekeeping and “preserving a genre’s heritage” simultaneously also hate the idea of EVER acknowledging and celebrating the fanfic that came before.
I grew up on classic AO3 and Tumblr. I salute my fellow freaks. They should too!
@jamieflkn The romantic dynamic is sick! It could and should be a great demonstration of how unique character chemistry can make good ships of any orientation!
It’s a great entry point for normie straight dude shippers into the giants of fandom past!
But for some reason it just didn’t?
The Malfoid thing is weird because it’s the first time a fundamentally RW (or at least normie) trend has involved taking over a non-RW space. It’s not “defending a last bastion”.
Most enjoyers of it couldn’t give a shit about fandom history, and to me that’s pretty sad. There’s-
@EiratheIntern I wonder how in God’s name this never happened with Bowsette. Was the chud cultural revolution just too far off? Was it the fact it was impossible to deny that it was a genuine magical transition of some kind? Was Mario just not as toxic or obscure of a modern fandom?
