A diverse Catholic church in the heart of Chicago staffed by @CanonsRegular. Restoring the Sacred through the Sacraments, Liturgies, Music, Art, and Culture.
“No human tongue can enumerate the favors that trace back to the Sacrifice of the Mass. The sinner is reconciled with God; the just man becomes more upright; sins are wiped away; vices are uprooted; virtue and merit increase; and the devil’s schemes are frustrated.” – St. Lawrence Justinian
A dogma is given to Christians: that bread passes into flesh, and wine into blood.
What you do not grasp, what you do not see, courageous faith confirms, beyond the order of things.

Celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus at St. John Cantius this year.
Mass followed by our outdoor Eucharistic Procession will take place on Sunday, June 7th at 11:00am. The Resurrection Choir and Orchestra will provide the music for this beautiful Mass.
Like the Easter Vigil, or the "Mother of all Vigils according to St. Augustine, the Pentecost vigil includes an extended number of readings and texts within its liturgy. The usefulness and beauty of these vigils are grander than they seem, reflecting on a particular aspect of the Paschal mystery — the Life, Death, Resurrection and Ascension of Christ, as well as the descent of the Holy Spirit — in this case, focusing on the last of these mysteries, and more generally on the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church.
The Pentecost Vigil at St. John Cantius will begin at 9:00pm on Saturday, May 23rd.
Join us on Saturday, May 23rd at 9:00 PM for the Vigil of Pentecost.
We will gather and pray with Mary and the Apostles in the “upper room,” as they await the Holy Spirit.
Just as the Easter Vigil is a powerful celebration of the beginning of the Easter season, the Vigil of Pentecost can be a powerful conclusion. This vigil brings to life a rich and full celebration of the mystery of Pentecost. The mystery of God, through whom Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, call us into a deeper communion, one that transforms us, allowing the Spirit of God to burn brighter in our lives.
