Individuals with FASD have no control over what their needs or abilities are so it is up to us as family, friends, and support people to ensure that their environments and the expectations placed on them, meet their unique needs.
September is FASD Awareness Month and we want to change the conversation and challenge the stigma. Watch for our FASD messaging this month. #FASD#FASDmonth#HealthyPregnancy
Thanks @CDC. Important to discuss use of alcohol & other substances. Higher use first trimester. About 40% pregnant females current drinking reported current use of other substances-most common tobacco and cannabis. #alcohol#pregnancy#BriefIntervention#FASD#support#letstalk
@CanFASD The prevalence of #FetalAlcoholSpectrumDisorder in Canada is roughly 4%. Higher than #AustismSpectrumDisorder. Despite this, resources for people with FASD & their families is shockingly patchy & often lacking. That needs to change.
@ShirleyDowie Hi Shirley. Marlene Dray here. Norm turns 65 this week and I cannot host a party. I am putting together a booklet of 65 sayings/stories about him. Can you help me with any? You can email at [email protected]. Thanks so much!
Everything! Beer, wine, cocktails, coolers, hard liquors (such as whiskey, gin or vodka), liquors or even hard ciders all contain alcohol that can hurt your developing baby. There is no alcohol that is “safe” to drink when you are pregnant.
Alongside @CanFASD, we have released a statement on alcohol use, and how to prevent FASD during the #COVID19 pandemic. Read the full statement here: https://t.co/ILaEv5v7S5
