Christians were severely taxed, they were forced to pay disproportionately higher taxes than Muslims within the empire, including the humiliating poll-tax. Even pregnant mothers had to pay jizya on behalf of their unborn children.

Between the 14th and 17th centuries, the Ottomans had the the devshirme system, a practice of taking young Christian boys from their families and being raised as Muslims.

Christians were tortured, deprived of formal education, and martyred. Conversion from Islam to Christianity was a death sentence.

On Easter Sunday, April 22, 1821, the Ottoman Turks hanged the Ecumenical Patriarch Gregory V of Constantinople. He was executed in full liturgical vestments at the main gate of the Patriarchal compound. His body was left hanging for three days before being dragged through the streets and thrown into the Bosporus. The main entrance of the Phanar (the Saint Peter Gate) has been permanently welded shut till date in memory of his martyrdom.

They've sold us the myth that Christians, Jews and Muslims also coexisted beautifully in Islamic occupied Spain after Muslims invaded.

Wrong. The Muslims, as they've done everywhere else, massacred the able bodied men then instituted the dhimmi system which is based in the Quran.

Christians (& Jews) automatically became 2nd class citizens on their own land. They couldn't repair their own churches without permission, which was only occasionally given. They had to submit and pay a tax to live on their own land, as has every other occupied or conquered Christian population when Muslims sweep in.

Even the Jews, who often speak of a golden age under the Islamic occupation, eventually ended up regularly massacred by the Muslims.

As many know, the North remained free when the Muslims conquered Spain in the 8th century and the peninsula was incrementally won back over 7 centuries until it was finally free.

More proof just surfaced that Mojtaba Khamenei is dead — and the Islamic regime’s ghost operation is being run straight out of Ghalibaf’s office.

A living Mojtaba would have been paraded non-stop. The widow would have been on TV nonstop as the grieving symbol of continuity. Instead: nothing. Because there is nothing.

OSINT shows the admins and designers of Mojtaba Khamenei’s official publication office switched their computer from Mac to Windows in early June. More damning: the Adobe InDesign PDF signatures on everything issued in his name are identical to the ones coming from Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf’s publication office. Same version (21.0), same Adobe PDF Library 18.0, same XMP Core details — exact match.

This isn’t coincidence or “shared resources.” A real Supreme Leader’s office would have its own independent team, devices, and workflow. Instead, the statements and PDFs bearing Mojtaba’s name are being produced on the exact same setup as Ghalibaf’s team. They needed the Khamenei name for legitimacy with the base and clerics. They couldn’t risk a living heir who might develop his own ideas or complicate IRGC control. So they buried him and installed a digital puppet — now operated directly from Ghalibaf’s machine.

The regime that lives for theater can’t even fake a living leader with basic propaganda discipline. Just PDF files exported from the same InDesign instance.

Mojtaba Khamenei is dead. The throne is occupied by a ghost, and the strings are being pulled by the IRGC faction through Ghalibaf’s office. Same lies. Same control obsession. Same clown show — just with worse production values.

This is Islamic propaganda by two uneducated barbarians who are deliberately trying to manipulate history. I will explain to you, in a long and historically accurate post, exactly how Muslim Turks treated Christians.

In the 1.300 years of Muslim-Arab slave trade, approximately a million Greek Christians were sold as slaves. I am Greek, so I will write you about how Islam and Muslim Turks treated Greek Christians.

On March 30, 1822, the Chios Massacre took place. The Muslim Turks slaughtered 42,000 Greek Christians: women, men & children. Additionally, 52,000 were sold as slaves in the markets of Smyrna & Constantinople.

On September 1, 1821, Samothrace was devastated by the Ottomans through a general massacre led by the Turkish Kara Ali. Approximately 10,000 men & boys were slaughtered. Women & children were sold in the markets of Constantinople & Smyrna (Holocaust of Samothrace).

On June 4, 1821, the Turks carried out a massacre against the Greeks of Kydonies in Asia Minor (modern-day Ayvalık). They did pogroms at shops and homes, looting them, while seizing women and children to sell as slaves. Simultaneously, they conducted a general massacre of the population, and the town was set ablaze and completely destroyed.

In Crete muslims carried chains with them to tie up Greek Christian women so they could take them away. They were enslaving and converting the Greek Christians of Crete for centuries.

For 300 years (1380-1680) the muslim Turks were stealing kids from their mothers. This was the most brutal thing humanity ever witnessed. They were waiting for women to birth, raise their kids, and then at the age of 8 were collecting the them. The devşirme known as "collection of children" or "blood tax" or in Greek as "paidomazoma". The devshirme was the greatest wound inflicted on Hellenism during the period of Turkish rule. The children who were seized were considered definitively lost. In Epirus, in fact, on the first Sunday after the abduction, their parents would go to church dressed in black, where a funeral service was chanted. In this service, the names of the children were read aloud as if they were dead. Once taken, boys were circumcised, renamed with Muslim names, and forbidden from contact with their families. They were raised as Muslims, effectively erasing their Greek cultural and religious identity to foster loyalty to the sultan.

After the Ottoman conquest of Crete (1669), local officials and governors began to oppress the Christian population in every way: killing, abducting and abusing women, demanding money, and preventing the performance of the subjects' religious duties.

We Greeks, called the Muslim Turks, "The grand masters of torture." In 1821, in Patras, they captured a father and son and, after impaling them, lit a fire and forced the other captives to roast them like lambs. Ali Pasha at that point was more inventive: When he impaled Christians, he forced their relatives to turn the spit, threatening that otherwise he would impale them too.

Immediately after the hanging of Patriarch Gregory V in Constantinople, the Turks hanged three metropolitans at various points in the city. However, one of them, the very elderly Metropolitan of Nicomedia, breathed his last before reaching the place of execution. Such, however, was the Turks' mania for revenge that they punished even the dead man by hanging his corpse.

Just 65 years after the Fall of Constantinople (1453), Sultan Selim I Yavuz, grandson of Mehmed the Conqueror and father of Suleiman, decided to definitively abolish the Patriarchate of Constantinople during the patriarchate of Theoleptos I, and to slaughter all the subjugated Christians (rayah) of the empire who refused to convert to Mohammedanism. Just 65 years after the Fall of Constantinople, the Greeks of Thrace were collectively placed before the forced dilemma of either converting or being wiped off the face of the earth, that is, to suffer ethnic cleansing or genocide, as we would say today. Between those two barbaric options, the Greeks of Thrace (the ancestors of today’s Muslim Greeks of Thrace) chose ethnic cleansing at their own expense; that is, they chose to convert in order to survive as an ancient indigenous people, in the hope that at some point in the future their descendants would regain their national self-awareness and their religious independence, and would then voluntarily return to the bosom of the Greek Nation and of Greek Orthodoxy.

When the Greek Bishop Dionysios the Philosopher of Larissa organized a revolt against the Muslim Turks in 1611, which ended in failure, the Turks flayed him alive, stuffed his skin with straw, and paraded it from city to city. Three days later, the Turks also discovered -the Greek rebels- Deli Giorgos and Lambros. They burned Lambros alive, while they crucified Giorgos and, instead of a crown of thorns on his head, they drilled holes into which they placed feathers. Dionysios’s skin, together with the heads of 85 Greek Christian rebels, was sent to Constantinople, where it was thrown into the Sultan’s stables.

After the failure of Daskalogiannis’s uprising in Sfakia (Crete, 1770), the Turks captured him and flayed him alive, cut him in pieces and throw them in the fire and the dogs.

The Muslim Pasha of Thessaloniki, Abdul Abud, who had set as his goal the extermination of the Greeks, burned 120 villages and wiped out their inhabitants to the last one.

5.000 Greeks were massacred in Naousa, the rest were sold in slave markets, and the entire city was reduced to ashes.

The most common torture inflicted by the Muslims during the Ottoman period was whipping. The usual victims were the Christians. It was the introductory torment in every other torture, so common in the persecutions of Christians that the phrase became proverbial: "I will whip you until you change your faith."

The Janissaries faced no restraint in their behavior toward the Christians. They would even enter churches and desecrate them. And if they discovered a beautiful Greek girl, they would seize her from her parents in order to satisfy their lewd desires. For this reason, anyone who had a pretty daughter was forced to keep her locked inside the house, while most Greek women who lived in towns would wear a burqa when they went out, just like Muslim women.

The Janissaries also exterminate Christians without any reason, simply because they were Christians. Sometimes they executed them in cold blood in the middle of the road, just to test the accuracy of their weapons; other times to watch them writhe in their own blood; sometimes to make the abduction of a bride, right after her wedding, more dramatic; other times simply because the Christians were manly-looking, relatively well-dressed, or on horseback. In the latter case, the rayah would hurry to dismount upon seeing a Janissary, but the latter would draw his pistol and say: “Why did you dismount, you infidel dog? So you could make me ride instead?” And the rayah, Greek Christian, would fall dead.

During the Ottoman period, Muslims enjoyed performing all kinds of mutilations. Ears, noses, lips, tongues, breasts, and genitals were primarily cut off. Not just those, though. Let's recall here the newly-revealed Saint Raphael of Mytilene, who was hanged from a tree and had his lower jaw cut off, while the twelve-year-old martyr Irene was roasted in a barrel on the Tuesday of Easter in the year 1463, ten years after the fall of Constantinople.

Many times Christian captives were placed in front of cannons that were fired, turning them into human shreds of flesh. In other cases, they were tied to galleys that sailed in opposite directions and were torn apart. Dismemberment of victims also occurred with horses.

In Chios Massacre young girls were raped publicly in the streets, and newlyweds in front of their husbands, who were then slaughtered. Others were raped in front of their parents, after which the men's genitals were cut off. Women over 40 were set on fire and left to burn alive. Pregnant women had their bellies ripped open and their fetuses pulled out, while small children were thrown forcefully against rocks. The frenzy of the Muslims was unprecedented.

In 1822, Muslims also captured the wives of Zafeirakis and Gatsos. The wife of Zafeirakis was built into the wall up to the neck in the church of Hagia Sophia in Thessaloniki. Maria Karatasou, daughter of a priest refused to change faith, and for this Ebub Lubut enclosed her in a sack with deadly snakes, where she martyred.

Pouqueville describes in the darkest colors to the civilized world the dramatic scenes he saw with his own eyes there: “Many women naked were put up to the neck in sacks with cats, snakes, and mice…”.

The Greek Christian Woman, during the years when Greece was enslaved to the Muslim Turks, in order to avoid -as much as she could- the abhorrent dishonor from the barbaric Muslims, would destroy the youthful beauty of her face, or create a family from the age of fourteen, believing that she would not give birth to slaves.

On September 1955 in Constantinople 4,348 Greek businesses, 110 hotels, 27 pharmacies, 23 schools, and 73 churches were damaged or destroyed. The exodus of Greeks from Turkey, reduced the community of over 150.000 (who have already left from the Fall), to fewer than 2.000 today.

Muslims commited GENOCIDES and Islamized the Anatolia, Antioch and Seleucia.

From the Hellenism of the East (Thrace, Asia Minor, Pontus), around a million people were exterminated (1914-1924). In the Pontus region alone, 353,000 people were slaughtered. Because they stole our lands. Smyrna, Aydin, Kydonies, Prousa, Nicaea (Asia Minor region), Trebizond, Kerasounta, Samsounta, Oinoe, Paphra, Ordou, Amaseia (Pontus), provinces of Derkon, Metron, Herakleia, Myriophytou, Kallipoleos, Ainos, Tyrolois, Saranta Ekklision, Adrianople (Eastern Thrace).

On December 18, 1803, at Zalongo in Greece, a group of Greek Souliote women jumped from the cliffs, holding their children. They chose death over falling into the hands of Muslims, where they would face rape, abuse, and enslavement.

These are only some of the most recent and important events in Greek history. Of course there are thousands of books and primary sources about the Ottoman period and what happened to Christians in Anatolian Greeks and other Christian countries.

When I was Muslim, I knew the story in Surah 2.

King Saul leads his army out, God tests them at a river — don’t drink, or you’re not with me — and only a few pass. Then they fight, and David kills Goliath. Surah 2:249-251.

Clean story. Until you open the Bible and find that the river test isn’t Saul’s at all.

It’s Gideon’s. Judges 7.

God tells Gideon his army is too big. So he tests them at the water. The men who lap like a dog go one way, the men who kneel go another. God whittles 32,000 men down to 300, so Israel can’t brag that they won by their own strength.

That’s the test. And it belongs to GIDEON. A judge. About 150 years BEFORE Saul was ever king.

You know what shook me?

The Quran took Gideon’s water test, pinned it on Saul, and then stitched the David and Goliath battle onto the end of it.

Two separate stories, from two different centuries, fused into one.

It’s the exact same thing the Quran does with Moses and Jacob. Take a detail from one hero, glue it onto another, compress the timeline.

I used to say the Bible mixed things up.

But the Bible keeps Gideon and Saul as two distinct men, 150 years apart, with two distinct stories.

It’s the later book that merged them.
And here’s what I couldn’t ignore.

Gideon’s 300 won so that no one could boast. The whole point was: the victory is God’s, not yours.

That’s the Gospel in advance. You don’t win by your strength. You win by His.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord.” Zechariah 4:6.

The Bible kept the story straight because the story was going somewhere.

It was going to a cross, where God won the victory alone, so no one could ever boast they saved themselves.

Here are all of them one by one:

* Sanctions on Iranian oil, petrochemicals, and related exports would be suspended.

* Iran would regain full access to its financial resources.

* $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds would be released during the 60-day negotiation window.

* $12 billion of that would be released before talks even begin.

* The U.S. and its allies would have to present reconstruction plans for Iran worth at least $300 billion.

* The war would stop immediately and permanently on all fronts, including Lebanon.

* The U.S. would commit to non-interference in Iranian affairs and respect for Iranian sovereignty.

* The U.S. naval blockade would be fully lifted within 30 days.

* U.S. forces would withdraw from areas around Iran.

* The Strait of Hormuz would reopen within 30 days under Iranian arrangements.

* A 60-day negotiation window would begin to reach a final deal on nuclear issues and the full lifting of sanctions.

* Iran would reaffirm its NPT commitment not to produce nuclear weapons.

Penerimaan pajak cuma naik 18%.

Empat — pertumbuhan ekonomi 5,61% itu doping, bukan obat:

Pemerintah bangga pertumbuhan ekonomi tertinggi di G20.
Tapi itu hasil dari pengeluaran pemerintah yang naik 21,81% year-on-year bahkan 31% quarter-to-quarter.

Dan ke mana uangnya?
MBG dan KDMP.
Bakar duit.

"Coba bayangkan kalau benar Rp335 triliun itu dibakar itu bisa membangun berapa banyak jalan, jembatan, airport.

Tapi tidak ada satupun yang dibicarakan Prabowo hari ini. Karena tetap ngotot ini investasi."

Lima — kepala BGN ditangkap, tapi programnya tetap jalan:

Dadan Kepala BGN sudah dicekal Kejagung karena korupsi. Tapi bukannya program dimoratorium cuma diganti kepalanya jadi Nani SD.

"Penyakitnya adalah program itu sendiri.
Yang membakar duit ratusan triliun.
Diganti kepalanya doang tidak menyelesaikan apa-apa."

Dan KDMP 80.000 koperasi dibangun sekaligus tanpa pilot project. Bahkan di NTT minimarket Alfamart dan Indomaret disuruh tutup hanya supaya KDMP bisa buka.

Orang-orang yang kerja di minimarket itu kehilangan pekerjaan.

"Ini kebijakan goblok dan tolol minta ampun.
Anda membunuh lapangan kerja yang sudah ada untuk membuka lapangan kerja yang belum tentu berhasil."

Enam — Purbaya menteri keuangan paling banyak bicara dalam sejarah dan itu bahaya:

"Menteri keuangan itu mahal, Prof. Sri Mulyani enggak pernah ngomong sembarangan kayak gitu."

Purbaya bilang "serok saham nanti" seperti bandar bukan menteri keuangan.

Statement-statementnya kontradiktif: bilang ekonomi kuat tapi mau jual surat utang ke Inggris dan China.

Kalau ekonomi kuat kenapa harus ngemis-ngemis ke negara lain?

"Ini orang tidak pantas jadi menteri.
Statement-statementnya kayak anak jalanan enggak ada nilai intelektualnya sedikit pun."

Tujuh — ekspor satu pintu yang paling mengerikan:

PTDSI yang mengelola ekspor satu pintu komoditas — banyak yang curiga ini jalan untuk meng-takeover pengusaha sawit dan batu bara jadi BUMN.

China sudah mulai alihkan pembelian batu bara ke Mongolia. India ke negara lain.

Kalau ekspor komoditas andalan terbesar Indonesia jatuh, sementara impor tetap tinggi itu balance of payment crisis.

"Kalau itu terjadi selesai.
Dolar ke Rp50.000.
Seperti tahun '98."

Delapan — Danantara dibandingkan dengan 1MDB:

Sovereign wealth fund seharusnya modalnya cash dari surplus dividen.

Tapi Danantara isinya aset-aset busuk dari BUMN yang sebagian besar merugi kecuali bank-bank BUMN dan Telkom.

"Saya bingung ini bisa jadi 1MDB.
Sebaiknya dibekukan dan dibubarkan."

Dan rencana mewajibkan orang dengan tabungan tertentu ikut obligasi Merah Putih itu bisa memicu pelarian modal ke Singapura. Banking crisis.

Sembilan — efeknya ke rakyat: badai PHK:

Kelas menengah turun dari 57 juta jadi 46 juta dalam 5 tahun. Saving masyarakat turun dari Rp3 juta jadi Rp1,5 juta. Sektor manufaktur yang menciptakan lapangan kerja turun dari 30% jadi 18% output dalam 30 tahun.

"PHK sudah mulai.
Dan ini baru permulaan.
Peaknya mungkin semester kedua.
Kerawanan sosial kita jadi enggak aman lagi hidup. Tahu-tahu dijambret, tahu-tahu dibegal."

Sepuluh — kalau Ferry yang jadi menteri keuangan:

"Enggak mau. Saya enggak mau."

Tapi kalau disuruh kasih saran:
bekukan MBG, KDMP, dan Danantara.

Reshuffle kabinet yang kegemukan.
Rampingkan birokrasi.
Hentikan ekspor satu pintu sebelum terlambat.

"Cara berpikir terhadap fiskalnya yang bermasalah. Bermasalah banget."

Ferry menyebut kebijakan ekonomi sekarang dengan satu istilah: Koplak Nomik. Bukan Prabowonomics. Tidak ada teorinya. Regulasi berubah seenaknya. Kebijakan dibuat seenaknya.

Dan yang paling menakutkan: tidak ada sense of crisis dari pemerintah. Sementara investor asing sudah mulai menjauh bahkan kamar dagang China sudah mengeluarkan semacam peringatan soal kondisi bisnis di Sulawesi.

"5 tahun ke depan saya yakin enggak ada investor yang berani masuk Indonesia."

Dan yang menanggung semua ini bukan presiden yang masih bisa jalan-jalan ke Paris. Yang menanggung adalah rakyat biasa yang kehilangan pekerjaan, yang daya belinya amblas, dan yang harus hidup dalam kerawanan sosial yang makin tinggi.

Donald Trump Fell Into Iran’s Trap

I say this as someone who supported @realDonaldTrump from the beginning in 2015, when the political class, the media and many Republicans considered him a joke. I did so because I believed he understood something others did not: that strength matters, that weakness invites aggression, and that peace is achieved by making your enemies fear the consequences of attacking you.

That is why it is so painful to watch him completely misread the Iranian regime.

DJT is one of the world’s greatest negotiators. He built an empire, won an election everyone said was impossible, reshaped American politics and succeeded where generations of diplomats failed by bringing several Arab countries closer to Israel. But there is a fundamental difference between negotiating with rational actors seeking prosperity and negotiating with a revolutionary regime whose identity is built around hatred.

Iran is not the UAE, Morocco or Bahrain.

Tehran’s rulers are not trying to maximize shareholder value or improve economic growth. They have spent four decades funding terrorism, destabilizing the M-East, threatening Israel, spreading anti-Americanism and building a network of proxies stretching from Gaza and Lebanon to Yemen. The idea that such a regime can abandon its objectives through negotiations has always been based on a misunderstanding of what it is.

Most frustrating is that the Iranians achieved exactly what they wanted. They could not destroy Israel through Hezbollah. They could not break Israeli society after October 7. So they pursued another objective: creating friction between Jerusalem and Washington.

Instead of helping @POTUS understand that Iran remains the source of the problem, they convinced him that Israel’s determination to defend itself was somehow the obstacle to peace. From Tehran’s perspective, that is an extraordinary strategic success.

Most shocking of all is watching President Trump publicly lecture Benjamin Netanyahu as if he were speaking to a reckless politician who does not understand the consequences of war. With respect, Donald Trump is speaking to a man who has spent decades carrying responsibility for his country’s survival. He is speaking to a leader who served his nation, led Israel through wars and understands the Middle East better than any Western leaders ever will.

More importantly, he is speaking to a nation that survived exile, persecution, pogroms, the gas chambers and countless attempts at annihilation. He is speaking to a people that rebuilt a sovereign state after two thousand years, defeated invading armies after declaring independence and once again stood up after October 7 with resilience any nation on earth could have demonstrated.

Israelis do not see existential threats as theoretical debates. We do not have the luxury of making mistakes when people openly promise our destruction. History taught us that when enemies tell us what they intend to do, we must believe them.

I remain grateful for everything Donald Trump has done for Israel, and history will remember many of his decisions as courageous. But gratitude does not require silence. No American president would accept missiles being launched at American civilians from Mexico or Canada while being told to exercise restraint and trust those responsible. Israel should not be expected to accept a standard the United States would reject immediately.

The reality is simple: Israel is not for sale, Israel’s security is not negotiable, and Israel’s independence will never depend on the approval of any foreign leader, however friendly he may be. We appreciate our allies and welcome their support, but ultimately remain responsible for our own future.

As PM @netanyahu said, if Israel must stand alone, it will; if it must fight with its fingernails, it will. Thank God, today we have far more than fingernails.
