Inpatient Mouth Care training on the hour, every hour in room 106 of Sunderland Royal Education centre today 🦷🪥 come along to learn how we can look after our patients' mouths at @STSFTrust 👅
And loved sharing our @STSFTrust patient safety project training speech and language therapists to use oropharyngeal suctioning. 100% of therapists said they feel their practice is safer for being trained ✅ @NESLTresearch
Fascinating lightning talk ⚡ from @SaltWalton and @MeganWSLT showing why FEES is SO important post-stroke for identifying silent aspiration and getting a rehab plan in place @NESLTresearch
It's been a complete treat to spend the day with old friends and new at the @NESLTresearch PPI event today. Going into the weekend feeling like real change is possible🥰
Well, we did start off on the right foot with pancakes for breakfast😅 @MeganWSLT@SLTHolly@Phoebehedley
May is Stroke Awareness Month! During May @RI_STSFT will be sharing details on some of the stroke research we are involved in starting with the @PhEAST_Trial @nihrCRN_NENcumb
Loved having the chance to present my project on training Speech and Language Therapists to use oral suctioning at @QualityForum#Quality2024
Will be going back to work with a head full of ideas after a very inspiring conference 🤯
"If a person walks away feeling worse than when they arrived, then I haven't done my job as an SLT" - there is great therapeutic value to speech and language therapy assessment highlights @deborahhersh in her keynote address on the first day of #BASCON21@BasAphasia
After most of my time as an SLT has been overshadowed by the pandemic, the @BasAphasia conference has reminded me how completely fascinating our job is! Feeling inspired! Although my brain feels quite full 🧠🤯 #BASCON21
@eerceylan96 Sometimes just 'swallow lady'.
Last week extended into, 'I have a patient who needs their speech assessing, but you are just the swallow lady' 🤦♀️
I've spent most of today in court watching an urgent application before Mrs Justice Judd concerning a feeding tube for a woman (P) in her 70s with Lewy Body dementia. She's in hospital following admission in November last year with biliary sepsis + delirium.
@cmorrisonSLT I'm sorry you can't be with your family for Christmas Catherine, I hope you still manage to have a festive time and nice break from working so hard 🎄 xxxx
Will be great to see improved support with #CommunicationAccess for people with communication difficulties across the country . Look forward to promoting thisin NE and @STSFTrust with @RCSLT
@BDA_Dietitians@cjsnowdon@DailyMailUK@DailyMailUK could this ‘health’ journo tell us how they would meet the hypermetabolic needs of a proned vented patient with COVID & the long-term nutritional rehab that they will require? Doesn’t sound like dietitians are ‘non-essential’ 🤔 ‘Health’ journos on the other hand...
