James Talarico: “The Southern Baptist Convention was pro-choice until the late 1970’s. This idea that to be a Christian means you have to be anti-gay and anti-abortion, there really is no historical theological biblical basis for that opinion”
@ErinNudi I had the opposite happen once. 28 year old me & some friends were at a restaurant in the Outer Banks. Next to us were three Moms quietly drinking while their young kids ran around chaotically. One of the Moms leaned over to me and said, “Never. Stop. Taking. Birth Control.”
@AmberWoods100 They’re here & you are one of them. @jkbjournalist is one of them. The victims of Epstein & other predators are some of them. You’ve all changed the debate & although justice hasn’t been served yet because of you “good & courageous” people there is hope it will be. Thank you all.
@friarguinn@AkilahObviously (2/2) BTW, I’m a women’s rights lawyer & I was a cheerleader. In fact, I worked at one of the leading Title IX advocacy orgs and in the ‘90’s and we counted & about half of us had cheered. Rah Rahs fighting for our rights.
@friarguinn@AkilahObviously (1/2) When Title IX was enacted, schools tried to include cheerleaders who only performed at other students games as a way to pump up the # of women in sports & avoid adding more athletic opportunities for women. Competition makes it a sport. So competition cheer squads count.
