We wish a swift recovery to those injured. Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with Bangladesh and is ready to extend all possible assistance during this difficult time.
The Ambassador of Iran called on me to brief the latest situation in the region.
I welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire and underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region. I stressed that further escalation would have far-reaching implications for the region and beyond, including Sri Lanka.
I also briefed on the measures taken by the Government of Sri Lanka to ensure the safety of Sri Lankans residing in Iran, in light of the current situation.

Today, 24 June 2025, I met @volker_turk, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka. We discussed matters of mutual interest related to human rights, where I reiterated the Government’s commitment to continued constructive engagement. I also briefed him on progress on reconciliation efforts and human rights since the new Government assumed office.
Officials from Ministry of Justice & National Integration, Office on Missing Persons, Office for Reparations, and Office for National Unity and Reconciliation participated at this meeting facilitated by the MFA. (2/2)

I chaired a stakeholder discussion on promoting Sri Lanka as a destination wedding hotspot at the Ministry yesterday. Organized jointly by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, the event brought together key stakeholders from the tourism, events, and hospitality sectors.
The discussion focused on establishing Sri Lanka as a hassle-free destination for weddings. During the event, I emphasized the importance of identifying and developing emerging trends and opportunities within the tourism industry.
I also stressed the necessity of teamwork across government institutions, underscoring that collaboration will be a cornerstone of the government's vision for the future. Additionally, I assured attendees that this vision includes steadfast support for investors, guests, and stakeholders alike.
President @anuradisanayake welcomed Indian Prime Minister @narendramodi at the Colombo Independence Square this morning. Prime Minister Modi was accorded a warm welcome from Sri Lankan officials, emphasizing their commitment to a prosperous future together.This momentous occasion reinforced the strong friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and India.
