EXT. - GIG HARBOR, WA., DOCKS - 1991, PRE-DAWN

Foggy northwest air hangs over the glassy water of the Puget Sound.

A white fishing boat with a blue stripe rests in a CREAKING slip.

INT. - FISHING BOAT CABIN, DOCKS, GIG HARBOR, - FOLLOWING

JACK, a weathered, ruggedly handsome fisherman in his forties sleeps on a small bunk. The cabin of the boat is simple, typical of a fishing boat.

JACK's alarm clock SOUNDS. Without looking, he turns it off, flips on a light and rises out of bed. He methodically lights a cigarette, turns on the coffee maker, puts on an old robe and ratty slippers and opens the cabin door.
