🎉 Congratulations to Dr. Pauline Pradal from the Soft Materials Laboratory (@SMaL_EPFL) of @Materials_EPFL for successfully defending her PhD thesis “Extrusion-based 3D printing of stiff materials for advanced photonic applications" under Prof. Esther Amstad's supervision.
Go check out our latest research on recyclable 3D printable hydrogels!! ♻️ Microgels are electrostatically crosslinked with a polyelectrolyte and can be reinforced with ions to form durable, self-healing underwater structures, ideal as damper or actuator!🌊https://t.co/XIO1m9GzCr
If you're near the @EPFL_en campus, be sure to stop by the @Materials_EPFL building, where a new #art installation gives a rare look at #engineering#materials outside the lab...and brings a new meaning to the phrase 'field of study'! @kakulya https://t.co/352vXp6EzC

Today we welcomed 48 students from Lausanne high school at @Materials_EPFL. Fabien Sorin introduced the SMX section and they had the chance to do some experiments in the IMX labs. Sustainable plastics, superconductivity and tribology... the subjects were varied and exciting!
Yesterday was "Oser tous les métiers" day. We had the pleasure of hosting 15 young girls and boys, they had the chance to experiment in our labs and play the role of Materials scientists! Then Stella Laperrousaz presented her research in front of a hundred children.
