Last night we had artichokes. My wife asked for hollandaise, made from eggs. I asked, "Can we afford it?"
I know Trump doesn't set the price of groceries any more than Biden did. Prices are set by giant corporations that have swallowed all competition.
I subscribe to Fine Homebuilding magazine because, well, I'm building a fine home. The most recent issue had a tip to separate 5-gallon buckets - which always get stuck together. Shove a screwdriver in between them opening a channel and blow in compressed air. Works amazingly!
Best writing advice I ever got was from the novelist Robert Stone, whom I was lucky enough to have as a teacher in college. I'd given him a piece that was full of Fine Writing. He put it down and said with a sigh, "You know, some poor bastard is going to have to read this stuff."
Great line about Boston, from "Gone, Baby, Gone" by @dennis_lehane "Boston: We're small, we're cold, but we'll kill for a parking space. Come on up. Bring the family. "
@tomcolgan14 It's the same in the film business. When digital effects came along, all of us stunt players looked at each other and said, "well, there goes our career!" Instead, it made MORE jobs for us. Now, with AI, everyone says, "been nice knowing you." ๐ค๐ป
@ChrisHauty I read her last, "Drowning" on a flight and loved it! The guy sitting next to me thought I was nuts, but all the flight attendants gave me thumbs up! Looking forward to my next flight!
The Cybertruck was released on Nov. 30. Today, Tesla announced it was recalling the vehicle for the fourth time, a rough average of one recall every seven weeks. https://t.co/2AxCVd5v8R
Reading Mystic River, the 3rd Dennis Lehane this month. Slamming it shut in frustration that I could never hope to be that good, I pry it open again. Because I must, and also because someday, if I work hard enough, I may be half that good.
And then I'd be a damn fine writer.
Looking forward to talking about fight scenes tomorrow at Thrillerfest with these immensely talented people, including late addition to the group, #ConnorSullivan. I also plan to follow them all around the conference, like the little yappy cartoon dog with his badass buddy.
Excited about this week's #Thrillerfest XIX. (aka19!) This will be my 5th time at the best writer's conference of them all.
This year I'll be speaking on one of the first panels, "Writing Fight Scenes," which will be fun! 8am Friday. Early bird gets to fight the worm!
@SteveUrszenyi@blacklionking73@dennis_lehane Read this & scolded myself for not having read Dennis Lehane. Immediately bought A Drink Before the War, Darkness Take My Hand, and Mystic River. Halfway through A Drink and I'm blown away. I see a thread that runs toward SA Cosby. Thanks 4 the reccomendations!
Today, driving in the semi-permanent gridlock that is Manhattan, I saw a Tesla #Cybertruck. When I first saw them advertised, I thought they weren't for me, but cool nonetheless. Seeing one in person, I realized it may be the ugliest vehicle ever made.
Is my impression correct that this vehemently, even floridly pro-union statement from Biden is the kind of thing the US hasn't seen from a president in many decades? https://t.co/8n2Z0HeLdu
Just finished The Price You Pay, by @_NickPetrie_
Somehow each book Nick writes is even better than the last! He keeps raising the bar for us mere mortals!
