@SNAAGIre condemns @NormaFoleyTD1 comments today. This time last year we heard the grand speeches and the term “Schools are Safe”. Quite clearly now this is not the case. Failure to prepare will see mass cases in a couple of weeks time. @NormaFoleyTD1

As an SNA inclusion and support is something we practice daily. To think children with AEN are facing expulsion is frightening and against everything we believe in. A child’s right to education is paramount. A child centered approach is where we need to be as a society not this.

As SNAs we promote inclusion and independence to think of segregation happening children with AEN in any setting would deeply upset us. Glad to hear this positive update @theonlyeoin #Respect4SNAs

@SNAAGIre are delighted to see many SNAs/teachers/principals vaccinated. This is good news but let’s never forget the reneged promise of a vaccine by the department in February.

#RespectForSNAs Do you know the current ed req for SNAs dates back to 1979? A bit outdated don’t you think @Education_Ire ? Refusal by the dept to change this in 2021 demonstrates the lack of respect for SNAs and the essential work we do.

#72Hours this comment has turned into something of a thread on some real experiences of SNAs and the 72 hours. SNAs around the country being asked to do work that’s not appropriate - too afraid to question for fear of loosing job. #Respect4SNAs

It’s time to recognise and respect the vital work of SNAs. We call on parents, principals, teachers and all school staff to stand with SNAs by supporting our campaign in support of higher minimum standards of qualification for all SNAs. Please stand with us. #RespectforSNAs

We deserve respect and recognition and to be treated as the professionals we are. We demand that the department acknowledge the outdated minimum educational requirement for SNAs is an insult to the highly educated and skilled professionals we are.

900 but those of us working in education know it was never enough. Exceptional reviews rejected and schools stretched, no additional SNA allocation for the second year in row.
