175. 6 सितंबर 2004 प्रधानमंत्री मोदी जी को बदनाम करने के लिए उनको जेल डालने के लिए,हिन्दूओं की मौत को हादसा में तब्दील करने के लिए और मुसलमानों को ख़ुश रखने के लिए ��ोनिया गांधी जी ने प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह जी और तत्कालीन रेल मंत्री लालू प्रसाद यादव जी के साथ मिलकर गोधरा कांड जिसमें 59 हिंदुओं को ट्रेन के डिब्बों में जला दिया के लिए न्यायिक आयोग जस्टिस यूसी बनर्जी जी के नेतृत्व में बनाया ।अयोध्या से आ रहे कारसेवकों को ज़िन्दा जलाने वाली घटना के 2 साल बाद हिंदू धर्म को प्रताड़ित करने वाली यह घटना असहनीय थी।तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी जी को ऐन ��ेन तरीक़े से गोधरा की घटना का ज़िम्मेदार बनाना,उसके बाद हुए हिंसा के लिए विलेन बनाकर जेल भेजना,गुजरात सरकार को बर्खास्त करना यही सोनिया गांधी जी की अन्तिम इच्छा थी ।लेकिन गुजरात हाईकोर्ट ने जस्टिस बनर्जी आयोग को ग़ैरक़ानूनी घोषित किया,हाईकोर्ट ने कहा कि ��ब नानावती आयोग जॉंच कर रहा है,उसका साथ दो स्पेशल टास्क फ़ोर्स दे रहा है तो घटना के 2 वर्ष बाद यह आयोग केवल राजनीतिक दुश्मनी के लिए बना है ।सत्यमेव जयते
