HEAVY RESCUE? You can say you’re on a “Heavy Rescue” all you want.
If you don't have the equipment, the proper training and the confidence to do something like this then you're kidding yourself and the people you swore to serve. #heavyrescue#paratech#firefigher
Does your FD have a plan to deal with extremely dangerous Trench Rescues?
1. Train your crews to mitigate incidents.
2. Have an agreement with a regional team to respond with trained experts.
Not doing at least the second option is gross negligence.
Brave work by @Toronto_Fire@TPFFA who risked their lives rescuing two patients from this unstable #trenchrescue
Also, nice to have command staff that understands the scope of this operation.

The Tension/Compression (T/C) shore design is ideal for end wall or excavation protection in situations where an opposing wall is out of reach or unsuitable . Takes about 10-15 minutes after long wall shoring. @Paratech_Inc#trenchrescue#firefighter#technicalrescue
This starts the second you show up. Scrambling for gear for a run-it’s a shit show. It’s your family’s air-make sure it’s well in the green. “Nothing showing” has started many NIOSH reports-bring the TIC, bring your tools, clip your waist strap. #complacencykills#expectfire
Our Special Operations Teams completed 9 days of Trench Rescue training by @SOCC_Corp in active soil conditions. Utilizing shoring techniques our teams are trained to perform rescues in these high risk/low frequency events. Thanks to Kynock Resources for the training grounds.
Trench Technician course at Vaughan Fire. Extensive classroom theory followed by REAL collapses with active soil conditions, including a difficult “Repair Hole” with cross shoring. Difficult patient access and removal. @ff4vaughan@VaughanFire & @RHFES
@YorkParamedics Special Operations medics gaining valuable information about Trench Rescue-they'll be in charge of patient care during these emergencies.
Great day today. @YorkParamedics Special Operations team was able to stop in with our friends @ff4vaughan and @SOCC_Corp to talk trench operations. Thank you for having us!
Push yourself out of your comfort zone mentally and physically. Outcomes are:

….and a Growth Mindset!!
STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE SPECIALIST training at TEEX-Texas. 8 days of Breaching, Breaking, Torch, Heavy Lifting and Stabilization, and Advanced Shoring techniques in >100° weather.
I’m proud to be part of this group that accomplished so much in incredibly difficult conditions.
FIRE SERVICE RIGGING SAFETY
Do your rescuers know the standards applicable to this equipment?
OSHA…THIS IS LAW!
ASME- Standards by Mech Engineers…This is like NFPA
ANSI-Standards Institute oversees development of voluntary consensus standards
“DIAMOND of DEATH” replaces “Lethal Triad of Trauma” by adding CALCIUM to resuscitation.
USAR Teams & Rescuers that encounter Prolonged Extrication …..that’s ALL OF US! need to be aware of all of these factors.
Ca+ is vital in clotting! #firefighters#paramedics#USAR
Roof removal when it unnecessary is a very amateur point of focus. Taking the roof/removing glass that doesn’t need to be is a hallmark of training on cars without a dent in them (it exposes patients to cold, which kills trauma patients). Use rams, cut the seats, get them moving
People get trapped underneath busses, especially in the winter due to shorter daylight. High Pressure Airbag lift(s) for heavy vehicle entrapments. Three lifts 1) Captured Suspension lift from frame 2) At tow points 3) Axel lift (not shown). #heavyrescue#firefighter
Trench Rescue Tactical Worksheets. High Risk/Low Frequency incidents are easier handled utilizing these. Requesting the correct resources early will happen when you follow these. DM for PDF Version. #firefighter#Feuerwehr#technicalrescue#trenchrescue
