We’re thrilled to share that we’ve received confirmation to host a DeSci & Web3 workshop titled "MesoReefDAO: Regeneración de Arrecifes de Coral con DeSci y Web3" at the XIII Congreso Mexicano de Arrecifes Coralinos and the IV Congreso Panamericano de Arrecifes Coralinos.
This event is organized by @SOMAC_reef, a chapter of @ICRSCoralReefs, and aligns perfectly with our scaling efforts to onboard researchers into DeSci.
Join us this October 2025 on Cozumel Island!

🚨 New paper alert 🚨
Alma Paola Rodríguez-Troncoso!

CORDAP and @Toda_la_UNAM joined forces and co-hosted the CORDAP Coral Diseases Workshop in Mexico, to discuss the gaps and needs in coral disease research. The goal? To draft a roadmap that helps advance this research field, including guidelines to prevent disease spread, and identify treatments and cures.
The workshop brought together 24 researchers, restoration practitioners, and early-career coral conservationists, coming from eight countries (Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan and USA).

Corals in the wider Caribbean are experiencing a second consecutive year of record-setting heat stress. 😞 Reports of mass bleaching from the USVI, Belize, and Saint Maarten came in last week. 🥵

Summer 2023’s record-high water temperatures caused bleaching and coral death in Florida. In 2024, though global temperatures continued to break records, ocean temperatures in the Straits of Florida eased, buying restoration efforts some time. https://t.co/WJN3rzWt1k
