Planting complete at all of our crop '24 crisping variety trials. Understanding that fresh weight yield is key to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving our sustainability goals (both environmental and financial), means higher yielding varieties are required.
Planting is well under way at our minituber facility in Scotland, with 3-4 field multiplications to come, we're looking at the early stages of ware crop '29, some of which will come out of store to our processing customers in mid 2030. @airponix providing sustainable solutions...
With over 4,000Ha's of seed, salad & processing potatoes to plant this year, progress in recent weeks has been good & in particular across East Anglia, the last of our own crop is now planted in Cambs with the team now focusing further north
Earlier today we met with Darren Mackie and Jenny Hookham from Greenseed International Ltd. We were extremely pleased to present them with the @BranstonSeed Grower of the Year 2022/23 award. Very well deserved to them too ๐๐ผ@SPPotatoes@Branston
We're very proud to have actively engaged with Pepsico on their regenerative agriculture journey. Our own processes are being continuously improved and many new projects are ongoing as we head towards carbon neutral production and supply, more here: https://t.co/GyrnuGpk7z
Through our work with thousands of farmers, weโve seen the potential in sustainable + #RegenerativeAgriculture practices to address the challenges facing the food system. Thatโs why weโre accelerating our #PositiveAgriculture ambition + taking bold action https://t.co/BYAGotHMI1
We've a few boxes of #Markies seed left if anyone needs a top up before we switch the store off #planting20@AHDB_Potatoes Almost done, DM if interested.
70% of the GB potato area has been lifted as of the week ending 22 October. Persistent wet weather has damaged some cops, particularly those on heavier land. The rain has also caused quality issues for lifted crops. Read the full report: https://t.co/h1FGJgLejD #harvest19
This is less than ideal! I really donโt want a wet winter but we need one if we are going to carry on as planned in 2020. #dryasabone#irrigation#wateriseverything
What I took from #PotatoesinPractice yesterday was 1) scale of challenges for the industry in Scotland, but 2) new collaborations 3) a focus on solutions as actives are withdrawn and 4) a supportive, connected, professional community. @AHDB_Potatoes
We wholeheartedly agree with @RichardLochhead's assessment: "Scotland has 8% of UKโs population & 10% of its researchers, yet produces 12% of UK research. We already punch well above our weight & enjoy a global reputation as a welcoming, pro-science nation" #ScotlandScienceNation
