Today I tendered my resignation as Mayor of the @citymississauga. My last day will be January 12. It’s been an honour of a lifetime to serve the people of #Mississauga for over a decade. I hope to continue to give back and do great things for our city as @OntLiberal Leader.
Great night @CANTAMILChamber
Annual Awards Gala. Congratulations to all the entrepreneurs nominated and awarded tonight—you will continue to be so important to our city’s economic recovery.
Last winter Doug Ford and his Conservative government abandoned the people of Ottawa when they needed their support the most.
To have an entire chapter of the report dedicated to ‘Ontario’s Absence’ is appalling
@fordnation must apologize
My statement
NEW: Marriage or divorce? Rumours are swirling about the future of Peel region with one mayor pushing for separation and another pushing for amalgamation.
The latter idea, sources say, is being “entertained.”

Today, nobody showed up to my 8.15am class.
0 students of about 40. Sitting in the empty room, I email them, trying to disguise my hurt feelings.
2 mins later, I get a reply: "Professor, we think you might be in the wrong room." So anyway off I go to live in a hole forever.
Today, Council unanimously supported my motion to reaffirm our position on #Mississauga's independence. As the 7th largest City in Canada, we are ready and capable to stand on our own. As a standalone city we'll save $1B/10 yrs, cut red tape and become more nimble and efficient
In a way, Hazel McCallion will live forever. Not just because she has a day to her name, but because of her legacy – and because we’ll never forget how she always worked hard and put people first. Tune in here as we celebrate that remarkable legacy: https://t.co/x41NTOffEs
Today we remember & honour the incredible life of our Honourary Guardian Hazel McCallion.
As she is laid to rest on her birthday, we reflect on her remarkable achievements, legacy & impact she's had & will continue to have on THP & the community we serve for generations to come.
Today, as we prepare to say good bye, we reflect on the leadership and legacy of Former Mayor of #Mississauga, Hazel McCallion. Thank you for your service to our Region. Rest peacefully.
At #olpagm I will be seeking your vote for re-election as EVP of @OYLorg. I'm proud of the work we did over the past year; a bright spot of the campaign was all the youth that took on key leadership positions. But we have so much more to do together to be ready for 2026.
During her 36 years as Mayor, Hazel shaped Mississauga into a city that is the envy of the world. As a trailblazing woman in politics and a no-nonsense city builder she was an inspiration to many, including myself. We will carry her legacy. She is forever a part of our history.
Hazel McCallion was a champion for municipalities. She created the organization that would become OBCM, and was the Chair for over 30 years. Our condolences to her family and friends.
Hazel McCallion knocked down barriers for women in politics, and her decades of dedication to Mississauga can be felt everywhere throughout our community. She was a force.
My heart is with her loved ones in these days ahead.
