New piece in the Atlantic today: Retired women are now spending a full third of their time driving to and from Costco gas stations to save $0.83 on a tank of gas.
@onlineforfood @freewilllyyyy I have played rounds with 1970s clubs and golf balls, and the spin/greenside control is better than modern balls imo. The ball feels so soft and controllable even with 70s wedges. Iron shots also stop just as good if not better.
@gilgilgilgil5 @jaycaspiankang Put it this way. We’re in your car, you floor the accelerator and we shoot off, once we get to 60mph you ease off the gas, but we’re still slowly increasing speed.
I say “your acceleration there went down”
You go “no, my acceleration didn’t go down, we’re still gaining speed!”
@gilgilgilgil5 @jaycaspiankang You are saying the prices are still going up, that’s true, but they are going up at a slower rate than they did previously. Because inflation isn’t a measure of prices, but rather the rate that prices change, it is correct to say that inflation is going down.
@gilgilgilgil5 @jaycaspiankang Again, the definition of inflation is the rate of change in prices.
So saying “inflation is going down” is the exact same as saying “the rate that prices are changing is going down.”
All you had to do was google “inflation”, but your replies have entertained me so thanks.
@moschinodorito My understanding is that each rotation is basically 1 row of pixels on the image. So you can have it move slower it just would take a lot longer, which means less people get to use a very in-demand machine. Plus ppl don’t like to sit still for very long in a metal tube.

Flashback of how Mahan handled the media after his Ryder cup duff. Had to be so hard for him to be up there and talk about it, but he did.
@mindyisser Buying extremely high priced bottles of booze/other high margin items is actually the best way a rich guy can spend money in terms of what’s good for society.
Doesn’t draw tons of labor and material from other areas like building a 2nd home would.
@gabbgoudy It’s about tradition and creating a fun moment for fans rather than a necessity. The packers take it a step further. Coolest thing ever as a kid watching an NFL lineman ride your mongoose to practice.
