I do payroll, that is my business, 365. Getting rid of payroll taxes and replacing them with almost anything else would eliminate my job AND be a net positive for society. The government created my job by taxing the living shit out of everything. I spend so much time researching through the 45 different regulations in each state, and the "field agent manuals" that contradict or ignore the regulations.

Speaking slightly hyperbolically, we live in an administrative hellscape, at least in the US.
