Bypolls are not a referendum on anything. They are to be analyzed differently than statewide or nationwide elections. If that is kept in mind, then the only takeaway is PK identified a small vulnerability, a minor crack and fought his way in. Two things can and will happen now - vulnerabilities and cracks will be closed and PK’s euphoria will be limited to one bypoll win or cracks can deepen enough to dislodge RJD from being the main opposition party. JSP will have to grow at the cost of RJD. BJP will remain in enviable dominant position for a while in Bihar. Rest is noise.

You know how you learn about recency bias and confirmation bias? Go and check the TL of every single journalist and YouTuber analyzing bypoll results. Many are my friends. But everyone is making the same mistake. I now find it all personally entertaining.
What happens to the BJP in an election 6 months down the line has nothing to do with any bypoll. Even if they had won I would say the same thing. But oh well it is what it is.
