We live in a world now where the moment someone posts something that agrees with someone else's confirmation bias, it's been shared halfway around the world before a single person thinks to check the details and ensure it's true.

Let's not pretend console and PC gamers live together in perfect harmony, either. Everyone has biases and prejudices when it comes to other media.

@cremieuxrecueil 3 would be ad hominem if they'd said "Your claim is false because you're an asshole". It's about whether they're trying to disprove a point you've made by attacking your personal traits instead of the point itself. I agree that that is widely misunderstood.
