Ice sets in around the islands & we see many winter activities: fishing, ice skating, ice boating. The island has a peaceful vibe, full of winter fun. ❄️ #ohwx#putinbay#LakeErie
Portage Lakes
Water level going down
The lowering of the lakes will begin on October 11, 2021 and will take approximately 7 days to reach the lowered pool level. Levels will be held until November 15, 2021. Replenishing will take approximately 7 days to return to normal pool.
We are receiving several reports of a rain/snow mix and even light sleet at times across the area this morning. Just for reference, our typical average highs for this time of the year are in the upper 60s to near 70. 🥶. #OHwx#PAwx
If EverGiven, the ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal, visited Portage Lakes, it would block entry into Turkeyfoot Lake, extending from Mosquito Point to the Statue of Liberty, or the entire length of the Iron Channel, or cross Rex Lake from Craftsman’s Park to the other side.
Eight bells for Past Commodore Patrick Reilly.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Akron Symphony Orchestra @akronsymphony or in support of musical performance and education.

This was a real blast! @brendancarb designed and built and ice kite from used materials (discarded SUP paddles and a ripped spinnaker). We could really fly. I want a whole fleet of these!

We understand and follow stop, yield, and school zone signs every day, but what about signs on the water? Find out more, and share your quiz score! https://t.co/QtyMqTWLpm
Remember to check ice thickness and the weather forecast before heading out. The MINIMUM thickness for snow machines is 5 inches. 8-12" for cars, and 12-15" for trucks. Keep your generic lizard monster at home for any ice thickness less than 100"
