Sometimes people bring this moment up as an example of the Raimi movies taking the piss out of the source material, but this poster is right. Even though there's a bit of a meta element to the humor here, proper respect is actually being given to the name "Spider-Man."

Even in the funny scenes where J. Jonah Jameson is brainstorming colorful names for the bad guys, he's doing it in the sincere interest of showmanship. He's basically channeling Stan Lee in those scenes. He wants a good name.

I once owned a purpose bred mix which was 25 percent dogo argentino 75 percent mastiff mix. Dogo's are closely related to pit bulls. We worked with behaviorist, excercised him every day, socialized him extensively.

I am not claiming to have been a great dog trainer but certainly I put in much more then the average dog owner.

He became dog aggressive enough to be lethal threat to any male dog he met by a year old, and then bit our friend guarding a food treat at 14 months and lunged at our 3 year old.

We had him put down we had a 3 and 1 year old in the house, and rehoming a dog that bites is irresponsible.

I grew up around pits and pit mixes, spent years walking dogs at the local humane society going out of my way to walk the pits that smaller less athletic people couldn't handle.

I bought the story that it was a human problem not a breed problem entirely.

Well I own Labrador now, should have started there.

I do not think 99.99 percent of the population can responsibly own these dogs and yes I think it should be seen like leaving a loaded fire arm around when you do not have skill to manage them and choose to own one.

This was my post from yesterday about this psycho not-Jean Grey thing.

The most 1:1 comparison to how “Jean” acted in this film is Silver Age Magneto. Silver Age Magneto was kind of an evil Twat. He threatened a lot, took an island hostage, took over the Savage Land, & imprisoned & tortured the X-Men. Then, in UXM 150, he sank a Soviet Submarine, killing all on board, that was coming to attack him when he was holding the world hostage & demanding Nuclear Disarmament. He only relented when he thought he’d accidentally killed Kitty Pryde (a child at the time he’d mistaken for an adult combatant), this causes severe flashbacks & the introduction of his “tragic backstory” as a holocaust survivor.

The next decade of comics saw him trying to redeem himself but it never let him off the hook for his past crimes. Because superhero comics USED to understand that killing innocents is, altogether now, WRONG. So, despite his willingness to change, Magneto had to submit to a public trial, more than once, have others, like Cyclops & (gasp) Jean, constantly doubting him, prove himself over & over again, & ultimately, sacrifice himself to save his followers after realizing his way no longer worked (XM3 Mutant Genesis)

So, if the MCU wants to have Jean submit to a public trial for her crimes, beg constant forgiveness, deal with constant doubt about her motives & agenda, & ultimately be willing to sacrifice herself to save others, okay. It will never be Jean as she should be from the comics, but I’ll buy into this version as an alt-universe take w/her as a female spin on Magneto.

There’s a scene from Picard Season 2 that is both one of the most unintentionally funny things I’ve ever seen and a great example of how bitter and mean the progified Star Trek has become

They travel back in time to near-future Los Angeles. Two characters see homeless people sleeping on the street and they literally STOP THE SHOW so a character can deliver a banal, really nasty lecture essentially calling the viewer evil for not doing more to help the homeless.

The same character who just got through lecturing the audience on our lack of concern for the downtrodden then proceeds to literally step over a homeless man who is passed out in the street. She could have easily walked around but for some reason nobody involved in the show questioned the optics of having her step over a homeless guy who could plausibly be dying

It was just such an insanely, unintentionally perfect example of contemporary progressive ideology. Lecture everyone else for not caring enough about people you clearly don’t give a shit about yourself

Okay, I’ve held back long enough, but I’m tired of this.

The people bending over backwards to claim Jean didn’t kill anyone in Spider-Man: Brand New Day are being ridiculous.

She deliberately used people as weapons. She forced an elderly woman to drive a tank through the streets and fire at people. She made people jump into traffic and off buildings with the intent to kill.

Peter saying, “You aren’t a killer, Jean,” does not magically erase what happened.

Apparently, if we don’t see a body hit the pavement, nobody died. By that logic, wars have no casualties unless we see the bodies.

You can like the movie. You can like Jean. But stop rewriting the film to excuse what she did.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Unless you’re Jean Grey, apparently.

Like sure you could make the argument that it ha more positive uses but like guns it really depends on the person using it.
