EWU Media Funded DNA Testing That Helped Crack 1984 Cold Case
On April 22, 2026, the Massac County State’s Attorney’s Office charged 76-year-old George E. Bradfield of Owensboro, Kentucky, with five counts of murder in the 1984 killing of Lisa Ann Carnes.
After more than 42 years, this is a major step toward justice for Lisa and her family.
EWU Media funded the DNA testing that assisted law enforcement in the investigation leading to the arrest.
Lisa Ann Carnes was 26 years old when her body was found in a rural Massac County field on March 30, 1984. She died from a single gunshot wound.
Our thoughts remain with her family, loved ones, and the entire community as the case moves forward.
