There has got to be an in-between solution between the original project Orion and the NERVA propulsion system that could work like a car engine does - compresses and sustains 1G thrust. helium 3 propulsion ? good thrust ratios

We need that base to get started exploring the solar system. Resupply, repair, launch, fuel. I hope companies such as Bigalow and some robotics are onboard. We never go wrong with the science and technology gained from these endeavors - we always find applications on Earth.

@elonmusk Beautiful, sir. With low gee in space, refueling hookup for lunar and trans lunar flight will be a challenge - what about some sort of cage hookup to assure solid clamping while pressurised refuel would take place ? or would you just swap and pop fuel tanks in orbit ?

@teslaownersSV Would fuel mix revisions boost the intended thrust ratios of the Raptor engine system ? Refuel capability at LEO , for example at the ISS platform or similar give her the intended boost for a Lunar mission ? ISS solid connection to refuel might be a challenge ?

@elonmusk Sir, I hope someday you will change that and get some manned missions. The mineral laden asteroid belt awaits being able to use Phobos and Deimos as pit stops while Mars for food growth, hospitals, etc. You are helping to open the door to the solar system, and helping Earth

@SpaceX I hope that Starship and Bigalow inflatable stations could establish a base on the moon, using a remote grasshopper to bring astronauts up and down to the moon from Lunar Orbit . Also, maybe robots build and repair in between visits using tele-control for instruction ?
