She went on to invent duplicating devices for typewriters well before the idea of photocopies, umbrellas, children's toys, and more. She was never married and spent much of her time devoted to her interests in painting, art, and animal charities. What a woman!
She's one of the few women in the 1920's and 1930's to actually make a profit and receive credit for her inventions. Her first invention was a vacuum ice cream freezer (um, yes please!) in 1912.
Beulah Henry has often been referred to as the "Lady Edison" of her time, but frankly, we think she's the Beulah Henry of her time. Beulah received 49 patents and has been credited with 110 inventions during her lifetime. #WomenScienceDay

In VA she served the Freedman's Bureau w/med care to freed slaves & wrote one of the first publications by an African American, A Book of Medical Discourses
