Shri @arvindtw, Director General, STPI, while addressing the inaugural session of the 2nd Bharat Digital Health Care Summit 2025, greeted the esteemed dignitaries on the dais, including Dr. @rssharma3, Former CEO of the National Health Authority; Shri A. Robert J. Ravi, @CMDBSNL and other distinguished dignitaries and highlighted about India’s progressive journey in health-tech innovation & STPI’s instrumental role in fostering this transformation.
Key points from Shri Kumar’s speech are:
➡️STPI has established 24 Centres of Entrepreneurship (CoEs) across the country, of which three are dedicated to healthcare innovation: The MedTech CoE at SGPGI, Lucknow; a healthcare-focused CoE in Bengaluru in collaboration with Narayana Health; and a CoE catering to health-tech innovation in the Northeast region.
➡️ Health-tech startups today are addressing a spectrum of challenges, from predictive to preventive healthcare. The sector is witnessing rapid growth, with projections indicating a $50 billion market by 2030 for healthcare technology alone.
➡️ As we aspire to become a Viksit Bharat by 2047, targeting a tenfold increase in GDP and per capita income, health sector must be at the core of our progress.
➡️ He stressed the importance of hospital-startup collaboration. STPI has signed an MoU with AIIMS, aiming to connect startups with clinicians who can offer problem statements—something far more valuable for startups.
➡️ Shri Kumar underlined the critical need for indigenous data to train AI tools. Foreign data sets are sometimes irrelevant in the Indian context. He appealed to hospitals and pathology labs to anonymize and share data generously.
➡️ His focus is on diagnostic solutions, especially for India’s aging population. From non-intrusive blood pressure monitors to AI-enabled fall detection systems for the elderly, technology should aim to improve daily lives. AI and data-driven tools must be used to improve accuracy.
Shri Kumar concluded by emphasizing the need for a unified effort across domains—doctors, engineers, hospitals, data scientists, and policymakers must come together to build innovative solutions that are relevant, scalable, and impactful for India.
