The Statue of Liberty has no legal standing as it pertains to immigration. The U.S. Constitution provides specific guidance on the who, what, when, and where of foreigners seeking to immigrate to the United States. Progressives like to use the "intent" of the Statue placard, "The New Colossus" like it has it's roots in the legal system. It's a poem that was added to the Statue in 1903.

I was in Christchurch, NZ for the 2010 (M7.1) and 2011 earthquakes (M6.3). Wide spread damage/destruction, 185 dead and ~5500 injured. People lost their homes and places of work. Significant aftershocks rocked the city for over a year. The rebuild lasted over a decade and is still on-going in some areas. My heart goes out to the people of Venezuela...they have a long a difficult road ahead of them.

The challenge is that Hezbollah, Hamas, Houthis, etc. are proxies of the IRGC. While we have significantly degraded he IRGC's conventional military capabilities, their terrorist proxies are continuing to cause havoc throughout the Middle East with the intention of disrupting the "cease fire" between the US and Iran. IMO, the MOU and "negotiations" are only delaying tactics and the IRGC will continue this game of whack-a-mole with the US and Israel until Trump is out of office.
