Built in Nigeria. Ready for the world.
Today, I want to celebrate @milsat_africa, founded by Taslim Saluadeen and Adedamola Baderinwa, the Nigerian company behind the technology powering our new National Digital Postcode.
From delivering a pilot in 2023 to building a national system, Milsat demonstrates the depth of Nigerian technical capability and our ability to create infrastructure that improves public services, supports businesses and opens up economic opportunities.
Their work extends beyond postcode. Milsat supported the National Population Commission’s mapping of more than 65 million properties in preparation for Nigeria’s first digital census, and has deployed enumeration area demarcation technology in Sierra Leone.
This is the ambition I want us to nurture: Nigerian companies building solutions for our needs, proving their capabilities at home and taking that expertise to the world.
With appreciation to @NipostNgn, Meeds Network Limited and the National Population Commission for their roles in this journey, today’s spotlight belongs to the Milsat team.
I look forward to seeing you help many more countries turn location and field data into better services for their people.

I spent 47 days as one of several thousand African migrants seeking to enter Europe through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea.
Story on @fijnigeria tomorrow, Thursday and on Friday.
What happens when we choose to invest in the places where our children learn?
Take a quick tour with me through the before, during and after journey of the renovation of 17 blocks of classrooms across 7 public Nursery and Primary Schools in Agege.
From leaking ceilings and weather-beaten structures to modern classrooms, libraries, ICT rooms, healing bays, offices and improved learning spaces, we are changing the story of basic education in Agege—one school at a time.
Two of these schools, Keke Nursery & Primary School and Local Government Nursery & Primary School, were commissioned on Monday, 14th September.
This is the transformation we promised. And this is only the beginning.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR EDUCATION IN AGEGE
Yesterday was a proud and memorable day as we officially commissioned and handed over the newly renovated Keke Primary School and Local Government Primary School, Agege, as pupils returned for a new academic session.
These are more than renovated classrooms. They now feature modern libraries and e-libraries, computer rooms, an AstroTurf 6-a-side football pitch, new furniture and learning facilities designed to give our children a better environment to learn, grow and discover their potential.
Across Agege, our administration has renovated 17 school blocks, recruited 50 new teachers, provided 3,000 school furniture, 92 marker boards and 72 teachers’ furniture, alongside educational materials for 8,500 pupils.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who joined us, including the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, government officials, traditional and religious leaders, stakeholders and members of our community.
We are investing in our children today because they are the foundation of the Agege we want tomorrow.

Did you know? The guy portrayed jumping in this picture was actually a real Nigerian. His actions contributed to the events that led to the Biafran War and even though he fought on the side of Biafra, Lt. Col. Ojukwu ordered his killing.
He's Emmanuel Ifeajuna. He was the first Black African to win a gold medal at an international sports event when he won at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.
He later joined the army and participated in the first Nigerian coup in 1966. He was the one that personally killed Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, his boss (Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari) and Lt. Col. Abogo Largema.
Because most of the top ranking Northern politicians and military officers were killed in this coup and Aguiyi-Ironsi became the Head of State, Northern officers staged a counter coup that killed Ironsi, six months later. Many Igbo officers were killed too and some Igbo civilians were killed and attacked in the North. This led to Ojukwu asking Igbos to come back to Biafra and the struggle for secession began.
To cut the story short, the war started and of course, Ifeajuna fought on the Biafran side. Sometime during the war, it became obvious that the Nigerian forces were winning. Ifeajuna and others started negotiating a ceasefire with Nigeria through British contact. In his words, he said he was doing this to save thousands of civilian lives and end the war early. Ojukwu got to know about it and Ifeajuna, alongside three others, were arrested. He was summarily tried and sentenced to death by firing squad.
Before he was shot, he reportedly said "You may kill me now, but it is too late. I'm sorry for you all because it won't be long before they get all of you.."
What he said came to pass. Enugu, the Biafran capital, was captured by the Nigerian forces, just two days after he was killed.
