The case for James Cook as RB1 (in fantasy)

1. Cook led the NFL in rushing last year - 1,621 yards - as a two-down back. He had touchdown regression (12 TDs) and still finished as RB5. This is the floor

2a. ".... but you just admitted he doesn't catch passes. Gibbs and Bijan catch 60+ balls a year - Cook's never hit 40"

2b. Cook has flashed - 54 targets back in 2023, before McDermott (and Brady) transitioned to a more balanced offensive strategy. Now Brady is fully unleashed and stories coming out of the Bills training camp say Brady/Carmichael want the backs more involved in the passing game - follow @Cover1

3. The Bills had a top 10 O-line last year. That unit is still mostly in tact. Now add a healthier and more dynamic receiving group +DJ Moore and you should have the same holes, lighter boxes, and more opportunities for Cook to break a big one

4. The defense is transitioning to an aggressive 3-4 under Jim Leonhard that will give up occasional big plays. This could lead to more possessions, more volume, and more red zone opportunities

5. Buffalo has the highest scoring offense in football over the last five years. Give him 45-50 catches, average TD production, a similar o-line, and he's going to smash
